Beware: Classic Bait-and-Switch and Refusal to Refund Deposit
Beware: Classic Bait-and-Switch and Refusal to Refund Deposit I contracted with Movenship (DOT #4350956, MC #1701218) for an interstate move. I was quoted about $2,200 by John W. after providing a detailed inventory. I even removed items (a workout rack and weights) before pickup. I paid a $1,000 deposit to lock in the rate. When their assigned carrier, American Eagle Relocation (DOT #3700234, MC #1587479), arrived, they refused to honor the contract unless I paid an extra $1,900—nearly doubling the cost. When I refused their bait-and-switch tactics, they canceled the move. I called Movenship twice: first, they promised to email me a resolution but never did; three days later, a supervisor told me I wouldn’t get my refund and hung up on me. This was deceptive, unprofessional, and possibly fraudulent. If you’re considering Movenship or American Eagle Relocation, stay away—their practices are dishonest, and they kept my deposit without providing the service.
