3.5 for Verrbling
In general, I have a good experience, but it was a few dysfunctions regarding connection. The community is friendly, and you can choose a very large variety of tutors. My rating would be between three and four.

Tremendous range in quality of teachers. Some don't give a crap and are late, don't show up, and/or have a terrible lesson where they just read off of some dumb pdf and act as if answering any questions is some massive chore. Some are amazing and go out of their way to create an amazing learning experience. Also, I want to be able to schedule shorter lessons. If I could schedule a lesson just for 20 or 30 minutes, that would be nice. 20 minutes 3 times a week is better than 1 hour once a week, for me.

If I was asked to review Verbling a year ago they would have received a full five stars. However, of recent they have taken away the "Community googlehangouts " option and I believe this to be a major disservice to language learners. I will say that the teachers offered on this website are acceptable and I do appreciate their format of the website.

Only needs 2 things to be 5 stars: 1. The ability to schedule "short notice" or on demand classes. Sometimes my schedule frees up when a meeting is cancelled and I'd like to use that time for verbling. But I cannot because of the 12 hour requirement. Verbling should add the ability to schedule short notice classes. The teachers could even charge more for these. 2. 30 minute classes. Because sometimes an hour just isn't feasible for those of us working during the day and trying to fit in a verbling lesson.

I have been teaching on Verbling for over a year now. I love the freedom that it gives me as an educator like creating my own lessons, setting my own rates and choosing the hours that work best for me. But, this freedom allows all teachers to be the best they can be; We have the freedom to do our jobs and approach our passions with as much vigor as we desire, making it a better place for our students to be, too. While I do enjoy the freedoms that come with teaching here, I also enjoy having access to teachers from all over the globe as a student, too. My language learning has progressed and it feels great to be able to "earn and learn" in the same place. I have recommended Verbling to many people, (both students and educators) and will happily continue to do so. Ok, so why 3 stars? The thing that has bothered me about my Verbling experience is the new platform (April 2017). There seems to be "bugs" all the time- whether it be sound issues or the screen staying black after a screen share, it's like there is always something (-1). Reporting these "bugs" doesn't feel like our voices are being heard, either (-1). Verbling: Look into your platform. A lot of us love it here but would appreciate it if you took the time to perfect your platform. Thank you!

I have had a wonderful experience with my teacher, Maria, but Verblign itself leaves much to be desired. Maria and I always have problems with screen sharing--during every lesson the screen freezes and I cannot see what Maria is writing on her end. Though, I have not had a lesson in a while and have not tried your newest features. Also, I am quite upset that you got rid of the group classes last summer. Those provided a great opportunity not only to learn, but also to interact with other students and get a sampling of the various professors on Verbling.
