Most of all, the worst technical support including arrogance and ignorance. Internet traffic charges without any notice (as of now, some instances still don't show traffic charge and its amounts). Unreliable instances. They are just one of AI hype boilers.

Extremely helpful and responsive customer support. This surprised me because it is a very cheap/budget gpu rental platform.

I rented several machines on vast.ai for long running compute jobs, and I can’t recommend it. Instances went offline at random in the middle of my work, with no warning and no explanation, and I lost hours of unsaved results. The advertised CPU and resources were clearly shared with others, so actual performance was far below what the listing suggested and at times unusable. Your data is entirely at the mercy of whoever hosts the machine; there is no real guarantee it will still be there tomorrow. When things went wrong, support was effectively absent and didn’t seem to care. Cheap prices don’t make up for this. Look elsewhere if your work matters.

First time using an AI company for building a fine tuned LLM. Worked great and I would suggest their h100's for anything around 27B parameters. Maybe could go higher too, it only took 30 mins or so. Thanks Vast.ai I'm coming back soon!

I rented a “verified” 4 × RTX PRO 6000 machine listed at 2010 Mbps download. In practice it downloaded at about 1 MB/s (roughly 1% of the listing), which I confirmed with a speed test, and a 203 GB model download reached only 8 GB in an hour. I reported it straight away, and soon afterwards the host was no longer shown as verified, which makes me question how hosts are checked in the first place. Support explained that the speed is shared across the whole machine and not guaranteed, but that’s only visible if you hover over the number, not in the listing. Their advice was to try other hosts or Secure Cloud, but Secure Cloud doesn’t offer this GPU, and there’s no way to know whether another host will be any better. I felt misled and paid for GPU time I couldn’t use. I’ve now asked for a refund and hope support will reply. If you need to download large files, be very careful: the providers are unreliable, and I don’t recommend it.

I have rented several servers on runpod. I have ran AI models on it and I faced many issues. Even if a server was advertised with a high internet bandwidth or high available CPU power, it didn't mean the server was actually so powerful. Many times, I understood there was nothing I can do because the download speed of AI models were too slow. Sometimes the machine was too slow. I often had to delete the instance and find a new one. I entitled this review don't trust runpod because the server was disconnected several times. (offline). This means you are logged in the terminal. you get disconnected and it is over, everything you did is lost in a blink of an eye. Sometimes, you receive a notification saying something like "your server is going to get disconnected". In this case, i would not advise anyone to subscribe to a monthly server rent on runpod. For sure, like many other people, i felt like I burnt my credits very quickly. Runpod is too expensive for such poor service reliability.
