The entry form seems glitchy. Some fields it would not let you enter all the letters and you had to come back to that field later when further screens would keep error declining your ability to move on. Also the credit card payment screen declined several very current and valid credit cards. I found one that finally ran. Not sure why that was.

It was very difficult to fill in fields where I had little or no information - both card and book were lost and could not remember when they were issued

I put in my information that it was a REGULAR renewal. I checked how much it was gonna cost...$115. But when I checked out, it said $296 and that it as processed as a MISSING passport. No way to call and complain either!

I started by filling out the hard-copy application, but the instructions for payment in the application directed me to the official website. When I got to that site, there was not an option to pay for those completing a hard copy application. I ended up having to fill out the whole application online and submitting payment with the online application. The hardcopy application is vague with the payment instructions.
