UptownwebsiteworksReviews of uptownwebsiteworks.com

They are an nightmare! They built me a website filled it with junk products that weren't even mine. They never corrected the issue. I must of have 3 or 4 employees that left in the middle of my project.I had an former employee to tell me they take on lots of work just to get money & don't deliver as promised.I losted $9,000 dollars dealing with them. They don't even give back refunds as promised. They did that to me. The last project manager that was working with me even left the company. He had the nerve to call me & told me he was working on his own & wanted to help me on future projects. No apology for not getting my refund when I severed ties with them. I blocked his number & uptownwebsiteworks when they called me about resigning up with them. Not to mention I made 0 dollars in dealing business with them. NY State should shut them down I filled a complaint with NY State business affairs. They didn't even cooperate with my matter. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST ! DON'T LET THEM GET YOUR MONEY

Worst place to deal with. They promise an ecommerce website from scratch and then use a template site. Full of Spanish as they were not careful enough to remove the original content. They then try to get more money from you to do what they promised in the beginning. My website was never fully finished and I got so sick of their crap that I told them I had, had enough. Well guess what, 2 years later and they are trying to get money out of me saying that the work that they did, work that I paid for is their legal content and that I have to pay for it to keep it. I Call that extortion and told them where to go. I already have another company working on the site to change it completely. These guys are the worst and I had yet to leave any comments about them until now when they tried to scam me for more money. I see they get some good feedback and maybe for the people (companies) that are not aware of their dealing and feed them enough money, they may well be happy with the result but beware, they will try and get more money from you. Oh, here is their email to me. Hello Gordon, I’m writing you this email to bring this in your kind notice that you are using a website on your Domain “https://*****************” which was designed and created by our company, you had the ownership rights for this website design which was valid till 2021. According to the laws and regulations of the Copyright Act of 1976: For literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works, the author or creator of the work is the first owner of any copyright in it. In the US, the first copyright owners of a film are the producer and the principal director. If you made the work as an employee, your employer is usually the copyright owner, unless you have agreed otherwise. In these cases, contractual terms are often the actual rules governing the ownership of a work, so you should carefully check all clauses to understand who owns the several exclusive rights involved. One source of controversy in copyright cases is often the status of work created by an employee in the course of their employment. In the case of Stevenson Jordan & Harrison v McDonnell & Evans [1952] 1 T.L.R. 101 CA it was confirmed that when the creator of a work is under a contract of service or apprenticeship and the work was made in the course of that employment, in the absence of any agreement to the contrary, the employer is the first owner of the copyright. ‘Artistic works’; including any graphic work such as painting, drawing, diagram, map, chart or plan, photograph, sculpture or collage, any work of architecture such as a building or any work of artistic craftsmanship. Therefore, as per the moral rights, Sections 77 and 78 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and as per the ownership rights, Sections 9 – 11 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 Our company is eligible to take legal action and file the case against you using the logo we designed for you without making it register under your name. The legal charges of $50,000 will be charged to you as a fine on the behalf of breaching the moral rights and $45,000 will be the fine on you as per the ownership rights which will be applicable under the copyright law of 1976. If you want to have the ownership of everything you can get back to me in next 24 hours or else we will sell this complete program to another client and make sure to take legal action against you as per the Copyright Law.

Scam beware not a legitimate business

I wish i could give this company negative stars. Even 0 is too many for them. In over 30 years of owning a company and working with others I have NEVER been treated the way Uptown has recently treated me. I am in utter shock and sick to my stomach. The sheer amount of disrespect here is unfathomable. We have paid the over $5k and feel completely taken advantage of. Not only is the site horribly thrown together but the lack of communication and horrible service received from Uptown is out of control. I hired them to build a website towards the end of last year. It took them months to get anything up and running. EVERY little task i asked them to do felt like pulling teeth, then it would take them weeks to make even the smallest changes. When they said the site was completed (I sell retail and wholesale CBD products) i had to screen shot and ask them to remove pictures of other companies products. 13 pictures of items that i didn't even sell. Some even had labels showing a competing companies name and product. REALLY!?! This was just the beginning. It took them over a month to get my shopping cart setup to function with my merchant processor. There is no legitimate reason for this besides being lazy and blatantly disrespecting me... THE CUSTOMER. Then they talked us into spending $3500 for an SEO package. ( I know, stupid of me) but they promised the world and swore up and down that they could be successful at this because they built the site. In 6 months i received only 3 orders from their work. I made more sales from word of mouth to friends than they did even after spending $3500 with them for this service. For the first month the website was "Live" you couldn't even type in my company name and find the website in google. Only after complaining about this for weeks was the issue fixed. That seemed to always the the case. I would have to call in and practically beg for them to get anything done. You would think my money was a good enough reason to do the work. I also paid them to do digital marketing for my social media and they NEVER EVEN ONCE logged into anything or posted anything. This was an epic fail at this point. And all this is only the beginning!!!!!!! After months of this type of behavior i had had enough. I held up my end of the bargain by paying everything discussed promptly and in full and they did very little in return. I grew impatient and ventured off to find another company to actually provide the services i so greatly needed, my SEO and Social media digital marketing. My new hire had full access to the website for the purpose of getting my SEO going. He was absolutely astonished with the lack of effort and skill displayed in the creation of my "Site" He explained to me why I would never be able to generate the traffic and sales i should have been seeing because of their lack of competence on Uptowns part. This led me to wanting a proper website set up in its place. So i hired the New guy to do exactly that. Upon attempting to start we have been blocked out my own site by Uptown. They started to understand what is happening and is holding my website hostage. I asked to have the upload size increased my 2mb and they want to charge me $950 for literally changing a setting (something that takes them 15 seconds and no cost) They will not allow me to have my domain name (Which i paid for) I told them i will not be giving them any more money and they jumped on and locked me out of the back end of the site. The email address to reset the password is theirs and they will not allow me to have the password or change it. This literally is making me sick to my stomach. They continue to bully me into paying them more money for access to my own site. This is ridiculous. They have made me feel about an inch tall. I even told them that i will be writing a review and they basically laughed at me saying that they will have them taken down. I don't know what else to do anymore. ALL I CAN DO IS WRITE THIS TO LET THE WORLD KNOW HOW THEY TREAT PAYING CUSTOMERS AND DISRESPECT THEM. I WISH I HAD READ SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE MAKING THE DECISION TO WORK WITH THEM. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!!!!!! They will do you wrong and laugh in your face when it comes down to where we are at now. There are more things that led to this point but i think after reading this people will get the point. Please if you read this before hiring them, do yourself a favor and walk away. Nothing good has come from hiring Uptown Website Works

Uptown Website Works failed to follow through what they promised. I spent over $600 on what my web designer, Brian Carlson, called a “template” for me to finish on my own. Their satisfaction guarantee on the website doesn’t work, it’s total bs. I have sent email request after request, live messaging, and by phone only for each of the employees to go silent. Have not heard anything from any of them after the designer said “they’re negotiating the amount to be refunded.” In the meantime they suddenly changed their refund policy after I repeatedly asked for my money back and they went silent when I sent any messages. Here’s what they did: •They promised a misleading “satisfaction guarantee” on the home page that does everything except offer a refund when you ask for it •nobody finished the damn job, they sent me a template said I can finish on my own •the web designer asked me for a good review before he even started designing the website •when he finally started working on the website he labeled my project name as “tacky” and never followed through on anything in an appropriate timely manner, he obviously didn’t care just wanted my money. •I asked him for a refund immediately because we were obviously not on the same page, he insisted that his company knows what they’re doing •after he sent me the “template” to finish on my own, I asked for a refund again. He argued with me said he can’t because blah blah blah shenanigans until I said I would post an unhappy comment because prior to our negotiation their return policy was “if for any reason you’re not satisfied” we’ll refund your money. No they don’t. He’s a liar, they’re head office is a crook, and their live chat doesn’t do a thing except promise you somebody will return your message so nobody is responsible. Everybody went silent. They said they would have a resolved amount to be refunded by Monday, they never did. I kept calling sending live chats, emails, no response That’s the story! Unfulfilled obligations, cheap deal. Nothing has been handled. I am never recommending your website shenanigans to anybody!
