Solid product, I was considering buying a license so I tried it out. Too bad the "free" version is unusable due to an ad popping up literally every single prompt, as if I couldn't read the giant red button, also begging for money. Money, money, money. Quality products don't beg for it, they earn it. No thanks

I switched to TypingMind specifically to get out of the subscription trap. I wanted API-based, pay-as-you-use. But the models do need to search the web. Particularly when doing research. Now it turns out the websearch ability is limited to a) Google (depreciated), Perplexity (starts at 50 dollar) and Serp (subscription at 25 dollars a month after the first 1000 search -which is nothing). I could set up an MCP server. All the options are there. But it turns out that both Local and Typing Mind Cloud options DO NOT work UNLESS you have an enterprise account. Mere premium users are not allowed. It took me DAYS and money to find this out, it is not clear from the documentation. Plugins are not an option - they are being depreciated. So I feel misled.

Hi Inge, 1. All models have built-in web search feature for free (just enable Web Browser in the plugin list), you do not need to use Google Search / Perplexity / Serp if you don't want to. 2. MCP definitely works with both local and TypingMind Cloud. Thousands of users use it everyday. What is the issue you are facing? Feel free to contact customer support so we can help you. I have never expressed dissatisfaction with the features offered by Typing Mind. However, I, along with many other clients, purchased the app and obtained a license specifically for the desktop version. The recent shift from a desktop application to a progressive web application (PWA) is concerning, as the desktop functionality was a key reason for my purchase. Additionally, I am frustrated by the persistent pop-up messages urging me to switch to the PWA. I won't move to the PWA version of it. While it's understandable that developing an Electron application may no longer be feasible, persistently pressuring users to switch is not a constructive approach. It's essential to either transition users effectively or continue the development of the Electron application.
