Amazing Tour with an Amazing Guide. Charley Hesse Introduced us not just to the amazing birds, but to the food and culture of Japan. Charley's extensive knowledge of the country allowed us to find many rarities off the main Japanese birding routes.

A fantastic tour to Japan in Winter with Tropical Birding! Great Guide Charley Hesse, we saw all target birds including Stellers Sea Eagles, Blakinston Fish Owl and the rare Ross’s Gull. Excellent Food and Hotels and Lodges. An excellent tour couldn’t have been better!

This was my first Tropical Birding Tours trip and it more than met my expectations. Everything went smoothly, beginning with the airport pickup upon arrival at 2:30 a.m. They arranged lovely accommodations for me a day ahead of the tour and at the end of the tour, and a taxi at the end of the tour. Both the company guide Lisle and our local guide Saman had amazing birding skills and were very attentive to ensure all six of us got to see the birds well. We saw all 34 species of Sri Lankan endemics and more than 260 species in total. I liked that we were able to see owls at their daytime roosts, something I have not experienced on other tours. I also liked that we had other activities, including the trip out to see blue whales, and visits to the Glenloch tea factory and the Buddhist Temple of the Tooth. Our accommodations were clean and comfortable and I really enjoyed the excellent authentic Sri Lankan meals served at most of our hotels. I recommend this company and definitely plan to go on another one of their tours in the near future.

Excellent tour with a variety of habitats. Jose was an outstanding tour leader not only because of his uncanny ability to spot and identify birds but manage a sometimes challenging tour.He got us through several land slides unscathed! One suggestion. We could have been provided, as Australian tours are, with a mid-morning and mid-afternoon cup of tea and snack and break. As an 81 year-old I could keep up but would have welcomed some breaks.

Jose Illanos was one of the best birders we have had the good fortune to travel with. Recommend insisting on seat rotation and more regular bathroom breaks.

We had a wonderful time in the Amazon where not many go to visit.

A Fabulous Experience! I have been an avid birder for 50 years, and have always planned to someday visit South Africa. I did so on Tropical Birding's Jan. 10, 2020 tour with the main tour and 9 day extension. Our guide was Emma, who is fabulous. The tour exceeded my expectations, even my hopes, finding me 417 new birds to add to my life list as well as wonderful views of an amazing variety of mammals and reptiles. Yes, it was tiring, up very early many days with 5 am starts on a few. That's what it takes to be onsite by dawn to see the maximum number of birds. Yes, there was a LOT of driving, but that's what it takes to see all the habitats of this vast country. Trust me, it was well worth it! If you are only a casual birder, I suggest you not go for this length of time, but if you are serious about birding, by all means - GO! Emma did everything possible to find us birds, spotted and identified birds flying overhead, hidden in bushes, only heads poking up out of the grass, zipping by like a bullet, and then patiently helped us locate them to the best of our own abilities. She is professional, friendly, dedicated and knowledgeable. I highly recommend her as a guide for anyone who truly wants an unforgettable birding experience. Kudos to you, Emma, thank you and GREAT JOB!

Wonderful tour. Very knowledgable tour guide. He was able to Identify birds by flight, sound, movement and color, and made sure everyone was able to see the birds by pointing them out. Hotels and lodge comfortable. Food was great. Birds where amazing. Long days but well worth it. Driver and van was comfortable. Good length for tour. Airport pick up, drop off and airport it self in Quito was easy and great. Ecuador is beautiful.
