Really enjoyed working with the employees (Logan). The knife was a Christmas gift and it was made in a timely manner. Will be purchasing again from this company.

Tokushu Knife is a small, specialist retailer dedicated to authentic Japanese kitchen knives and the craftspeople who make them.We carefully select knives from respected makers such as Nigara Hamono, Masakage, Takamura, and Moritaka, along with whetstones, honing products, sayas, and custom wa handles. Our goal is not to sell you the most expensive knife. Every order is carefully packed and insured, and if a shipping issue arises, we handle it directly.Tokushu means “special” or “unique.” We chose the name because the right knife should feel exactly that way: a beautifully made tool you will enjoy using for years.

I appreciate doing business with a company that communicates well, is honest and informative and leaves you feeling good about your purchase. Tony accomplished all of the above and provided me with products as described. This is my first Japanese chef knife and I anticipate purchasing many more. Thank you Tony and Tokushu Knife...

Moritaka 270 Gyuto is fantastic. Assumed that it would wedge on big carrots, but just glided thru. I put this up with my Denka gyuto, my shibatas, Kurosakis and Yoshikanes.

One of my handles is perfect, but the other had a hole on one facet up on the ferrule. It's okay, I guess. I filled it with printable caulking and now have to match the color as best I can ( unless someone has a better idea). I think the hole drilled through the middle was much thinner on one side than the other. It frustrating because I believe these handles came from the states of and that's not a really long trip. I had to email them to remind them to actually shop my order out. Lo and behold it started moving the very same day as the email, so that was either a fluke, or they forgot to send it out in the first place. I will be using this company as a last resort from now on. The handles do look great, though. I feel that that needs to be said. Just be careful because the handles have very weak spots in them. Update: as you can see from their reply the owner does care about quality and shipping speed. I can verify that they sent me a new handle as well as two or three extra for free which was really awesome if them. I highly recommend this business if you're a hobby knife maker, or someone looking for a new laser to blast through some prep.

Hi Colin, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m really glad to hear one of your handles came out perfect, but I’m truly sorry the second one didn’t meet expectations. That’s not the level of quality we aim for. The hole you described shouldn’t have made it past our QC team, and I completely understand how frustrating that is, especially when you were excited to complete your project. I also apologize for the delay in shipment that error is on us, and we’ve already addressed it internally to prevent it happening again. I would love the chance to make this right for you. Please reach out to me directly at [email protected] so I can replace the handle or offer another solution you’re happy with. We appreciate your honesty, and I hope we can earn back your trust. — Tony Maciejewski, Owner of Tokushu Knife
