I rented a car from thrifty car rental in Dubi Airport couple of months ago and paid all required fees.while I understand that a deposit is usually held and not taken from the account, this company deducted the deposit amount,. When they refunded it, they took an additional £80 without any explanation. This was frustrating and felt unfair. I hope the company improves their communication and practices in the future.

I could not speak more negatively of…
I could not speak more negatively of the service received by Thrifty and how totally unacceptable the response was by management. This company is without doubt, the WORST car rental company in Dubai and I could not recommend looking elsewhere.
Being new to Dubai, we needed a car and rented from Thrifty expecting a minimum service level. We hired a Hyundai Creta and paid 2,500 AED per month, which in hindsight, is a rip off when you shop around.
Upon hiring the vehicle, Thrifty took our email address and details as you would any normal service. After a few days, I had not received the service agreement so contacted them via WhatsApp. They did not respond. I contacted them repeatedly over following days and eventually I received my agreement (10 days of rental). At this point my wife received a call today we had received parking fines. I explained that nobody had let us know from the outside and questioned why we had not been informed before this to make corrections.
We found out that the service agent took the wrong details down and incorrectly took our email address so we did not recieve any messages about fines meaning we had run up a fine in excess of 2,500AED. This was quite clearly a Thrifty error and a very costly one. We then raised this with the management team and waited in excess of 4 weeks for a response.
While this was happening, we emailed to request that no further charges are taken on our cards until it had been resolved. This was completely ignored and a large sum was taken to cover the fines incurred even though Thrifty were clearly at fault.
Eventually, the management team came back with a totally obnoxious response explaining it was our fault and thrifty would not take any responsibility even though we have evidence via voice notes received stating the completely opposite and accepting fault.
At this point, we paid our final statement balance and just wanted to leave. As a follow up, thrifty emailed and offer 100AED voucher to rejoin which is nothing short of disgusting and a totally distasteful offer in light of how shambolic the service was.
My advice, DO NOT go with thrifty, there are so many, much better providers who value you as a customer. I now have a much higher spec vehicle which costs 300AED a month less.

Really disappointing after services
Really disappointing. We ended up taking a car for 6 weeks as EID took longer than anticipated. Zeroed the excess which they eagerly accepted. All was ok until return. Two small scratches caused by someone else probably scraping us in a carpark. Despite being zeroed they continue to rely on smellprint around getting a contemporaneous police report to substantiate the damage. Completely unworkable as we hadn’t even noticed at the time yet they prefer to go after a couple of hundred dirhams after me spending thousands on long term hire at short term rates including 6 weeks of zero. No flex and a reliance on small print I have never experienced in 20 years of renting. Even the guy checking us in said not to worry about it as it was so immaterial. Then they hide behind anonymous emails thereafter. AVOID.

Thrifty left me on the side of the higway on Christmas
I'm an expat living in Dubai and have rented cars from various car rental companies - Enterprise, Autostrad, Hertz - all of which have had fine customer service. Thrifty has been terrible. On Christmas, I hit a curb pulling out of my hotel. I didn't anticipate this causing any issues.. so I kept driving. On the highway my left front tire fell off of my vehicle, so I pulled over to the side of the road with hazard lights on. I called Thrifty and they were zero help, just kept telling me that I needed a police report. Thankfully a police officer came to tow me to a mechanic. I asked the officer for a report, but he said that I didn't need one. I called Thrifty - no help, no guidance - just told me that I needed a police report. I paid $82 for a new tire and labor. I drove to a Thrifty garage to determine if insurance needed to cover anything (i paid for full insurance), Thrifty told me to go the police station. The police told me that I had to go back to where the accident happened to file a report. I did just that. The police officer who came to look at the car said that he wouldn't write a report because there was no damage. I called Thrifty. The officer spoke with them for 10 minutes, telling Thrifty that they don't know the law and just want money out of me (it costs $142 to file a police report). He told me to return the car without a report and to call the police if Thrifty refused to accept it. Thrifty called me 20 minutes later to tell me to file a report on the Dubai police app as a 2 car accidenet "hit and run" or Thrifty would charge me $273. I'm a 24 y/o single female who was just trying to drive to church for Christmas mass, hit a curb and now has wasted 7 hours between the accident, tire shop, garages, phone calls and the police station

Horrible company,
Horrible company,
Its December and they have just charged my card from a fine in august without any proof of the fine.
In addition when my car got damaged and had to be repaired, I was offered no compensation for the time lost and had to pay for it even though I bought their insurance.
Scammy company like the rest of dubai

The worst experience
The worst experience. I hired a car thru invigo which brings you a thrifty car, the worst service and so disorganized. They delivered a car with stains and then had me pay for the stains as not all images were loaded to the system on check out. I should have taken pictures. Don’t use thrifty
