Website Taken Down With Less Than 24 hrs Notice, Resulting in Loss of Work
I worked with Ranking Geeks to manage and support my business website. My experience became deeply frustrating and disruptive due to lack of communication and handling of a critical website issue. On Thanksgiving, I was contacted for the first time regarding renewal and was told that if I did not renew services, my website would be taken down. This was the first notice I received. I responded that I planned to migrate my site on the following Monday. Despite this, my website was taken down less than 24 hours later. On Monday, I was given access again, but the version provided was from more than six months earlier. All newer pages were missing, including pages I had created over time that represented an estimated 50 hours of work. These pages were essential to my business and had been live prior to the takedown. I immediately contacted the company to address the missing content and request assistance, but I did not receive a timely response or resolution. I understand that contracts and renewals matter, but I expect reasonable notice, clear communication, and safeguards when a company is responsible for hosting or managing a client’s website. Losing months of work with no warning and no response afterward caused unnecessary stress and business disruption. I hope this feedback encourages better communication practices and protections for future clients.
