Not as Hot as They Seem to Think
We've had lessons from several teachers for several instruments for two kids - the teacher's are musicians, not trained music teachers. The last teacher selected age inappropriate vocal music (sexualized content for an 8 yo) and told me I needed to allow my son to expand his interests. Since finding a local school with professional teachers, I have since learned of many errors my all of their former teachers. I guess I'm just not impressed by tattoos and brightly colored hair - we found the quality of instruction we were seeking elsewhere.
Response from The Music Factory School of MusicSep 2, 2016
Hello.. Thank you for your feedback regarding our school. I wanted to touch on a few things. We are definitely a school that focuses on contemporary music and not a more classical approach. Pop and rock music so often do have more adult content in the songs and sometimes we have to be careful about walking that line. I can assure you that when we do band recitals and events like that we address lyrical content of songs the best that we can. Yes some of us here at the school are professional musicians. That is part of why many customers like us. However, we are not for everyone and it sounds like you found a better fit for what you were looking for for your kids. Many music teachers teach at multiple schools and I know many of those teachers as well as many of the school owners and I am very confident that we have some of the best teachers around. We are the only school i'm aware of that has written it's own curriculum books and has a testing program that accompanies those books. We are pushing boundaries to ensure that are teachers are "professional" at what they do. As I said before, we are not for everyone and i'm glad you have found a good fit for your kids, tattoos or not.
