The audacity of charging teachers and…
The audacity of charging teachers and tutors simply to access students and find work through a platform is absolutely appalling. I applied for ONE job after this company started repeatedly emailing me about tutoring opportunities. Only after they had lured me onto the platform and encouraged me to apply did I discover that I was expected to pay to access opportunities and find students. Tutors are the people actually providing the service. We bring the qualifications, experience, lesson preparation, resources and teaching that these platforms ultimately make money from. We are bringing value to the platform — we should not then be charged for the privilege of finding work through it. If you're going to actively approach teachers and tutors advertising work, be upfront from the beginning that accessing those opportunities comes at a cost. Don't badger people's inboxes with job opportunities, lure them into signing up and applying, and then reveal the charges afterwards. Value tutors a bit more. Without the tutors actually doing the work, there is no platform. Appalling business model and a complete waste of my time.
