It’s a bait and switch business. They get in with a low price and subcontract out to another mover that will upcharge once they are at your place. They take little care to actually know what you have and are looking for a fee.

The company subcontracted
The company subcontracted, I believe so they can tell you to look them up on the government website and see how great they are but that is a shell. The company that actually showed up to move me, looked around and said it's going to be double the cost of the estimate because my furniture is "not Ikea furniture so not stackable". I don't know why the default would be assuming everyone has the same furniture but I can assure you my furniture is not oversized or odd. They then tried to bully me into having them deliver early and when I tried to resist, said they would charge me extra for storage since I wouldn't accept delivery. My stuff made it and in one piece but unless you want extra stress and to pay double the estimate, don't use this company

Brooke,
We use a system that is approved by the USDOT to generate the amount of space each move will be for. The size of the items are based upon a average size of pieces. Unfortunately not everyone has the same size of furniture we can only generate space reservations based upon generic sizes unless provided the specifications of each item. I do not see any notations on your file about a problem with delivery. Delivery times are based upon the First Available Delivery Date that is given at the time of pickup.

They have very aggressive sales…
They have very aggressive sales tactics. They promised me that I would get a refund of my deposit if I cancel within 72 hours. I canceled within 48 hours. They said I would get my deposit via check. The sales guy, Joe Green, said that it would only take 3-6 days. Then their accounting person tells me 14 business days. When 14 days passed, I checked status only to be told i would have to wait an additional 30 business days.
They don't even own their own trucks. They are brokers. And the companies they refer you out to have very little history. It left me very nervous and so I canceled. And now, I can't get my money back.

Bogus Estimates and Subcontracted Labor
Was sold a bait deal, like others here, and was subcontracted at least once. Estimate expanded from $2600 to almost $6000 when the movers finally showed up 2 days late after I closed on my home, forcing me to pay a day's rent, and leaving me no choice but to sign off on the deal. They showed up on the other end in Florida a week early, 6 days before we were scheduled to move into our new home. Boxes missing and thousands in damage, only to refer me to a bogus claims website, and offer no assistance through the process. They still have an opportunity to make this right, the ball is in your court.

Nate,
My apologies for the additional charges. However, after reviewing the paperwork, it is apparent that there were additional items not discussed when you received your estimate. 3 Brothers Moving & Storage can only provide an estimate based on the inventory and information provided at the time of booking and quality assurance calls. In the event that there are additional items or items that are of a larger size than previously discussed, the driver must charge for the additional space that the items occupy when they arrive. After delivery, customer service provided you with the information necessary to file a claim for items that were damaged. In order to process claims, a third party provider works directly with the carrier on behalf of the insured. In accordance with DOT regulations, they are required to process claims within a certain period of time. This information is provided along with the claim form. Delivery dates are not guaranteed, but rather based on the first available delivery date (FADD). I do not see any record of the carrier wishing to complete delivery before the FADD. Our network of carriers work their hardest to deliver delivery by or around that date, but rarely do they attempt to complete delivery before that date.
