Pay to play. After a lengthy onboarding process as an experienced teacher and tutor (seven years, across many countries, including work as a university instructor), I was told I must buy on-site currency with real money to even indicate I'm interested in an available job. This site is basically a scam.

Poor experience with TeacherOn
I can see that other teachers have already shared their experiences with TeacherOn here, so I would like to share mine too.
I am a qualified language teacher with over 20 years of experience. I registered on TeacherOn and spent my time creating a profile, only to discover afterwards how the system actually works for teachers:
Students post requests saying they are looking for a teacher, and teachers are then expected to chase those students and pay money simply to contact them. From the beginning, TeacherOn claims that paying is optional and that there are opportunities teachers can contact for free. In practice, my experience has been very different. Free opportunities are extremely rare, and to contact most potential students you have to pay €3–5 — except TeacherOn has turned it into a rather childish little game and calls that money “Coins.”
Perhaps calling them “Coins” makes spending real money feel less serious. Or perhaps someone at TeacherOn simply never got over their Harry Potter phase. Either way, the Coins may sound imaginary, but the money TeacherOn collects for them is very real.
And several teachers can pay to contact the same student. I have seen students who had already been contacted by three teachers. So three teachers can spend their very real money — sorry, “Coins” — for the privilege of messaging the same person, with no guarantee that any of them will even receive a reply. TeacherOn also decides how many Coins teachers have to spend on each individual request. One student may cost 100 Coins to contact, another 150, with no clear explanation of what those different prices are actually based on.
This was certainly not made clear when I registered.
I contacted TeacherOn support with specific questions about this system. Instead of answering them, their Customer Support Manager sent me links to their “How It Works” and “About Us” pages, saying that charging teachers is necessary to protect students from receiving too many messages and calling these “small fees.”
I don’t buy that explanation. There are plenty of platforms where teachers and students communicate without complicated charging systems and without anyone feeling spammed. I think we can all agree that TeacherOn thinks it is being smart a@@ here and is simply monetising teachers’ attempts to find work.
As a professional teacher, I find this model degrading. Qualified professionals who have invested years and money in their education should not have to pay for the privilege of chasing potential students — which, quite frankly, I think should be the other way around.
After this experience, I looked into TeacherOn’s history on Trustpilot and saw the notice about breaches of Trustpilot’s guidelines and fake reviews being removed. I wish I had checked that before registering.

I've been taking online guitar lessons…
I've been taking online guitar lessons with Ajith from Switzerland, and it's been a fantastic experience. Despite the distance and time difference, he's always punctual, well-prepared, and incredibly patient. He explains things clearly and adapts the lessons to the music I actually want to play. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a guitar teacher online!

Extremely rude and unprofessional…
Extremely rude and unprofessional teachers. I posted a requirements on teacher on and then later I found a tutor on their and other tutors were sending requests on teacher on then I came across this one teacher Sherwant Joshi who I did not want tutoring from him as I found another tutor on there. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. He started threatening me saying I lost 500 rs applying to your post, will you refund that back. At least have some professionalism by at least replying people. My post was not a spam Like he said . Like I'm not forced to reply if I do not want...they were forcing me to join them when I went ahead with another tutor already.
Some other tutors were also scammers as well. There was just no response when asking for their qualifications etc just shows they are not genuine tutors.
