Sterling cost me a dream job. They couldn't complete my background check, nor provide the necessary documents and information where and when I needed to conduct a drug screen test. The potential employer blamed me for Sterling's incompetence and rescinded their employment offer. Besides receiving several e-mails a day in regards to incomplete information, I never received the drug test information until the employer human resource department questioned Sterling Talent Solutions. Sterling's background check website said nothing about the drug test, nor provided information about the lab. Any potential employer using Sterling Talent Solutions should be avoided. I've never had background check issues, nor any drug test issues, until dealing with Sterling. Ironically, this employer told me they never blame their people, but rather the processes. This time, they blamed me rather than the process. Thanks, Sterling Talent Solutions.

I was going to give them 2 or 3 stars, because at least they answered my questions when I got stuck. Until. They need a letter from HMRC, so I scan it and email it to them as an ecncrypted zip file. Which they don't accept, as it's "Policy". I ask them which encrypted file formats they will accept, they reply "word, jpg, pdf", which doesn't really answer the question and shows a staggering disregard of our privacy/identity safety. Anyway, trough a duckduckgo search I find out that Word files can be encrypted within MS Word. Worth a go, and amazingly they accept it! Why they couldn't have told me this before I don't know. Job done, but no, they review the letter and tell me it doesn't cover the time period they want - which is news to me as it quite clearly does.

This company is really shady, very slow to respond, and completely incompetent. They requested my W2s, which I have never had to provide for any other job search, because they were unable to verify basic employment, which every other background check company has managed to do just fine. They were completely puzzled by the company I contracted through having a different name than my company (isn't this usually the case??) & were unable to verify employment for this reason. They listed my job titles as having "discrepancies" when I listed my job title as "Sr. Data Consultant" when they had "Sr. Consultant, Data" listed. They delayed my employment by about 2 weeks by the slowness of their responses and incompetence. I hope I never have to deal with this company again.

I have never before encountered such a unprofessional background check company! If I could give a -10 I would have! At the moment still going through with this b***hit!! I provided them with 3 references and they verified 2 the other 1- never contacted them. Now I’m receiving an email That they could not verify my employment... so I have send HR my reference letter and stated that I provided the contact details. Hopefully this will be sufficient! I also contacted the India call centre! Honestly I cannot state how afwul the service is - very inefficient!!!!

Awful, just truly awful. Every one of these other reviews has not exaggerated one bit. I have received 5 emails so far asking for additional information including for me to disclose my social insurance number over email and a scan of my ID. They cant seem to contact my references which cant be true since I have confirmed with them all and none have had anyone reach out so its just easier for them to say they couldn't get a hold of them and then ask me to do the leg work to provide paystubs from years ago. I don't understand why anyone would pay for this service. Its absolute GARBAGE and clearly its being outsourced to India/Phillipines based on the time stamps on the emails I'm getting throughout the night! This is certainly not my first background check but this is insane. Do NOT quit your job if you have this 'company' doing your check for another offer. Never experience such a slow and unprofessional process like this in my life. Most company take 3-5 days BEFORE the start date to finish a background check. Sterling actually don't give a crap about you starting date. They just send you one email per day asking one or two questions. Meanwhile people losing money because they can't work since the check isn't done. And their questions are stupid as hell, just call my precious HR to confirm my employment, even though i gave them the number. They have to ask for letter of employment, who the fxxk keeps that? It is like they deliberately create obstacles for you to work. What a bunch of suckers. So Don't quit your previous job until you know for sure they are done, otherwise you will be left hanging and may very well don't get the new job since they ask so many stupid checks you might never able to find verification.

Worst company ever, wish I could leave no stars at all. They could not verify my education and I had to email them and send proof because they are incompetent. I have not heard back from them yet and I need this to be verified in order to be employed. Thanks to them I almost lost this job opportunity, luckily my employers allowed me to send them verification.

This company was in charge of doing my background check for my new job. They were terrible. They couldn’t verify my high school information. I had to call my high school and get the information to them that basically they didn’t send the signed verification over in order to release the records. Then they “couldn’t” get employment verification from my current employer for whatever reason and I had to again do their job. They have a call center and the people don’t know what they are doing and are only reading from a script. I do not recommend this company and would advise that any company who is using them rethink continuing to use them. They need everyone else to do their job.
