I had to complete my own background check by finding proof of employment that they claimed they could not find. However, when I researched my former employer’s website it was noted that Sterling had checked this employer. In addition, I did not receive a pre-adverse notice. Finally, they went back to 1995 to search records for an old conviction. Their practices are sloppy and discriminatory. I’m certain they have ruined many lives who have worked hard to get an education in order to get a job and get ahead. My next step is to contact a lawyer and my state representatives.

Very unprofessional and for sure liaer. Had to go through educational back ground check they wanted me to call the university to release information because they said they tried and could not obtain it even though I signed for them forms to do that before, so I called the university and the university said no one called and this kind of data go through an agency called aquadata so called aquadata and they told be that sterling has to deal with them directly and I can only get a student transcript. So I called sterling they said OK just send the transcript which I did. Then after 2 days they called again to check on my international high school diploma. I explained to them that since I had university crdites in US and Canada they should automatically consider that I had high school diploma but I have my diploma and translation transcripts and I will email them. After many days of waiting and delays called to check on case they said waiting on lanuguestic specialist I said why I sent you also the translation from the ministry of education. They don't look they know what they are doing but they gave a date when it will be done. Called after that date they said they trying to call the ministry but no answer and they kept saying that for 10 days until some one told me they never handled cases like that and this number they calling they Google it and they don't know what to do from here on unlike other educational institutes who has there contact channels and data base. I am losing this job because I have been told that this a time sensitive process and I quit my first job because I signed the job offer for this new job that's asking for the background check.

Like many others here I wish I could give them a 0. Absolute garbage. They could not verify any of my employment or education. I literally had to do all of it myself and send it to them. And it was super easy for me! I’m 100% sure they didn’t even try.

Even after sending them the contact info for my previous employers they "Couldn't verify" them. In less than 20 minutes I was able to call each of them and get the confirmations they needed. They also inexplicably asked me for my W2s for the current year... which I'm pretty sure isn't possible. I ended up more or less doing my own background check. I'm not sure what they got paid to do besides slow down the process.

Absolutely the worst! I am so upset right now. I am waiting for background for a Temporary job. they act like it's a federal job. I am so upset with this company. I have a clean background, never had an issue with ANY background check with any company ever! They just keep emailing for more stuff. Get on with it. obviously from your reviews and ratings here you need work Sterling! I can't believe the hoops you make people jump through for a temp job.

This firm are awful, waiting 4 weeks so far, absolutely ridiculous, took nearly 3 weeks for them to ask me for documents relating to before I was adopted, what the f*** were they doing for those 3 weeks? More importantly under the data protection act, why were they holding my information for that long without processing it? Absolute bunch of cowboys

This place is absolutely terrible. Got locked out of my account and have been trying to reach them about it for three days. I've been on hold for the past 25 minutes and I am fed up. REALLY hate that I need this to get approved for the job I have secured.
