User Experience: - non-secure authentication process - many of the questions and process flows are nonsensical - if you press the wrong button you can clear all information meaning you need to manually re-type all of the information - if you don't complete the application in time you need to start from scratch (and ask your hiring department to process this for you) - platform is difficult to wield, to the point of being painful Personal Experience: - Sterling does not communicate or gather information well. They asked for additional supporting documents, but cannot receive emails above a certain size and block emails if you send to many - I raised three cases on Friday night (they're only answering phones Mo-Friday 8am-18:00pm) and only got a response to one on Tuesday. My case only got generic responses, eg reach out to your hiring department and email additionalinformation at sterlingcheck.com - repeatedly being told to trust them and their process - but they have not been able to communicate their process with me nor be transparent with me - finally, when verifying my identify and establishing if I was a client or a user (which they should have been able to tell from the options I had to submit on the phone), they asked if I was performing the check for the wrong company (which they named) - this is a security concern

Sterling did a backcheck about my profile with Transunion and they told to my future company that there are something wrong. when i confirmed this with Transunion and Equifax they said that all was fine and nothing is wrong , Sterling service didn't know what's the issue they just give probability that Maybe it's payment issue or credit check. i never recomand this company

Sterling: don't provide a number that puts you on hold for over 40 minutes; don't provide a freephone number that goes to a fax machine; don't email me asking for a reference and do the above and take two weeks to reply to mails. Your inaction led to a human being's start date being pushed back. Bar-belled reviews which is suspicious... Edit - Sterling has asked for my name and number to get more details. No need. Just phone your own contact number that you put in your emails asking for candiate information and see how fast it gets answered: you'll see how unprofessional you are.

The worst company I have ever had the misfortune to use. I signed up our company to use their service for background screenings, and immediately had enraged new-hires with a TERRIBLE first impression of my company complaining entirely about Sterling. This platform is a joke. It is filled with errors, requires a ridiculous amount of information most of which also contains errors. Here is a good example: Address 2 is a required field for previous employers. What if they don't have? Put in anything just to be able to submit the form, and your application is flagged. This is a huge waste of money and has cost me real talent who has quit in frustration before we've even gotten them onboard. Avoid this "service" at all costs. I've tried calling their customer support to point out errors, and been on hold for HOURS. Somebody in India called me back once with a bad connection. This is just absurd.

As a new starter I found Sterling incompetent. a realistic "Start date" was given 4 weeks into the future, all details were provided on day one. When I followed up on the delay it was clear that Sterling only started the checks 4 days before the start date, and key requests were only sent our to previous employers after the target date was missed.

Awful user experience, waste of time The whole application process is lagging and bugging all the time, you write in one field, then you write in another field, which deleted stuff you wrote in first one.... Compulsory asking for photo evidence which are not possible to obtain in photo form, which was also asked before and provided (since the evidence can only be in written form(code from gov website), not obtainable in paper, maybe expect to screenshot a website page? not sure)

Wanted to apply for Uber Eats. I have an enhanced DBS on the Update service and am cleared in the UK to take sole charge of vulnerable adults. I already have the highest level of check possible and it can be verified in seconds by logging into the GOVERNMENT website but Sterling won't accept that...oh no. They say they are unable to accept a background check that is done "for any other organisation" and decide to treat the UK government as if it was another employer or third-party agency. So, as my passport has expired and my birth certificate is in storage far away, I can't progress my application as I can't prove my right to work in the UK - the country where I was born and where I've lived my entire life. Basically, they just want to charge the customer e.g. Uber for making a fresh check and don't care about making prospective riders take unnecessary journeys to the post office during a pandemic verifying documents and paying out for something they may not even get to use due to over-saturation of the market. This company's policies won't let me deliver a burger and fries yet a care agency will give me a job based upon what Sterling won't accept - a complete joke. N.B. I just want to clarify that I pay a £13 a year fee to the Update service so that new employers do not have to go through the entire laborious background checking process and that is my issue here. I have also checked the government website and the special COVID-19 measures are still in place - that means passports that are less than 6 months expired (such as mine) *are* acceptable, and documents can also be verified via video link rather than via the post office checking service. Sterling is not using the policies that have been amended in the interests of public safety and is sticking to the old ones. I appear to have a missed call on my phone from Sterling, but I think a response on here would be more transparent.
