Worst background check experience ever.
I've had background checks done more than once due to having some high-profile jobs, so it was not a first for me. What has been a first is the level of unprofessionalism that Sterling showed. - communication was terrible; I asked questions once, twice, and they were never addressed. - emails are never signed by a person. When I asked about this, I was told that it was because "there's always a different person replying". This is not true. What they are trying to do is distance themselves from any sort of accountability. Also, signing an email is just the minimum politeness expected in a digital world. - I tried calling them directly instead of relying on email, and what I was told over the phone was NOT the same thing I eventually received over email. Talking to them is like trying to clap with one hand, as it's clear they do not follow an internally-defined process. I do not even know IF they have a process. - asking for the same things over and over again. Maybe because "there's always a different person replying" (which I still do not believe), the conversation threads have looped many times, and I had to supply the same evidence several times, as the process is - to put it mildly - broken, and my emails and email attachments have not been read or looked at. Overall, it was extremely frustrating, slow, unprofessional, and I wouldn't recommend Sterling, as they clearly follow rudimentary processes that are subpar.
