Absolutely HORRIBLE company. I have never in my life been on hold ( I am on hold right now for over one hour for the second time today - gave up earlier). Tried emailing, the website to no avail. Just trying to correct a start and end date of a previous employer. Mission impossible. If this causes me to have my start date pushed back I am going to file a civil law suit against them. How companies this bad stay in business is incredible to me. I hope somebody at Sterling is reading these. You should be ashamed. How can you sleep at night? Do you even care? Apparently not. You SUCK.

Worst customer service I have ever encountered. Phone calls go unanswered, emails are unanswered, and when you finally do get someone on the phone, they have no idea what they are talking about. My background check has taken far longer than it should have and I can get no response as to what is still pending or what I can do to facilitate it. My start date will be pushed back as a result. After reading reviews, my concerns appear to be a constant problem with this company. Avoid them if you can.

By far worst company I have ever dealt with and I have worked for a background screening company. My start date has been pushed back twice already. These people do not take their job seriously nor do anything in a timely manner. When you call the company they have no idea what they are doing but want a million things from you and to run you around all over the place. They even tried to send me for drug testing from OHIO to ILLINOIS. They are complete morons.

I've been on the applicant side and employer side and one of the worst companies I have ever used. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Sterling at all costs.

As of writing this review, I have been waiting a month for my background check to clear and start my new job. They’ve pushed the start date twice so far because of this company. I’m thinking of accepting another offer due to this.

From a candidate's view, the web tool is a mess. It shows errors where there aren't any and even the support is not able to fix them. After explaining two times via email they let an Indian call center contacting me. The support guy didn't have any clue, I was clearly more technically versed than he was, so there came out nothing again and the whole process got stuck for days. I then could fix it on my own after wasting a lot of valuable time. They fail to comprehend from foolproof documents and flood you with emails to send another documents to proof things like an address from 7 years ago. Still then, they seem to not being capable of getting out any information right. After my experience with the process I see a major problem on their side in determining contexts correctly. The forensic-like approach is completely disproportionate, ridiculous, and has a great lack of professionality. There is no such thing as a secure/encrypted document transfer service, one needs to send all the sensitive documents in plain-text emails!

I was told to do a pre-employment check through this company in which i tried to complete the survey as soon as i received it. Unfortunately, it has been an incredibly frustrating process as I have added all the required information but for some reason the system won't add it properly and stating I have an issue and cannot proceed to signing the document. I contacted customer service to find a solution to this in which it took 1 week and a bit to respond to my query. When they did respond, they gave me a generic answer which did not answer my query at all. I tried again and showed screenshots in which they yet again did not provide any real answers and solution. Considering it is a time-sensitive link it has caused so much stress and frustration and currently still no resolve.

I'm in an interview loop and their website is impossible to log in. I've reset the password for multiple times. I'm a certified IT professional with a university degree. I have 20 years of programming experience and I have worked in security domain for 4 years. If I can't login, I'm pretty sure they have some bugs in their systems. I can't comment on the service since it's impossible to even get started. Usually this is a good sign of that their business is in big trouble.
