This is a company with no respect to…
This is a company with no respect to the time and effort of candidates, which is obvious as they are extremely inefficient and refuse to accommodate reasonable requests.
If a company requires a background check with Sterling, just reject the offer - it is not worth it to deal with them.

Sterling refused to listen when I told…
Sterling refused to listen when I told them the courthouse did not have their request. Their response is they sent it so shut up and wait. Decided to cancel the job app because any company that inflexible is not worth working for when other avenues of verification are readily available.

This is not an experience you should have had. We are looking into this and forwarding this experience along to the proper internal team for review and a resolution.

This is a 3rd party background check…
This is a 3rd party background check similar to checkr . It will get you a pre adverse bias decision making which will guarantee cost you a job .
It’s not fair system that’s for sure and who ever is plugging in the information writes it up just nice and sweet to make you look bad .
They said my head on collision not fault was “accident” didn’t state the disposition of any real facts and flagged me for pre adverse.
Then sterling wants you to contact them to dispute the information all for them to run you in circles with the same dam results. I wish I could find an attorney and lawsuit the hell out of this company and checkr for mislabeled and misleading background check information.

Absolutely abysmal
Absolutely abysmal.
I very much hope that any and all companies needing background checks will cease to use this company, because whatever pennies might be being saved, are being lost in inefficiency and stress.
I was told by the recruiting company that I would receive an email from Sterling.
Phoned Sterling, and assistant spent around twenty minutes trying to take down my details. When I then expressed concern about how long this was taking, she laughed. Asked to be put through to a manager and she dropped the call. Tried the next day, and ended up with someone saying over and over 'Hello? can you hear me? Hello?' and sounding like she was laughing when I explained how well I could hear her. Then Deepak, who told me a link had been sent to what was an incorrect email address, and when I expressed concerns about this, he suddenly claimed the company don't send out links, only my employer. Asked to speak to a manager, and was bizarrely put through to the woman who hears nothing, and repeated the amused 'Hello? Can you hear me?' routine. Then through to Rubinah who lectured me about how wrong it was to want to speak to a manager, and how I should listen to her and behave. Eventually through to a supervisor, who told me the email I knew was there wasn't on the system anymore, that Deepak had updated my name as being my email address, and that I should tell my employer to email them the new email... kind of like they did yesterday? Really? Two hours of my life I won't get back. Feels uncomfortable saying it, but only one of about seven members of staff were able to understand English spoken at a normal pace, and half struggled when spoken at a slow pace. Lesson from the story is one for recruiters and employers - candidates have no choice in who they are stuck dealing with for these checks, so please, choose someone other than Sterling, get the job done several weeks quicker, and save staff a great deal of stress in the process.

Sterling employees are lazy and unfair when doing checks.
Sterling conducted a background check on me as part of new employee procedure at my company.
The problem is that they request additional information on random days, basically meaning that whenever they randomly decide to verify one thing, I have to take out my hard drive, look for info/documents and send it. They could request all additional documentation at once, but they will ask for one thing every 3 days or so.
The process only started once I had already started my new job, I could not lose time off training to go an request the criminal check. I informed them that I will obtain one in the first week of October when I finally get a day off during working hours to get one.
Today I finally went to get the document, waited in line with 30 people ahead of me when I arrived and paid for it. Only to get home to upload it, and find that the check has been completed and they noted that I refused to provide my criminal check!!!
Lastly, they noted that I refused to provide information to verify one of my credentials. I provided them with the certificate which has a certificate number on it. I don´t have the contact details of the Financial planning board on hand, I would need to search for it online, why couldn´t they do the same?
