Horrible company, Don't communicate, I was told I would receive emails from supervisor and got nothing. Was told it takes 3-5 business days and it been 9 days I have lived in one city and they take 9 days to do a state background check, My start date was pushed back twice waiting. Be prepared to wait over 3-4 weeks. My suggestion is to go elsewhere for a background check because this company will take forever and have your start date pushed back which has never in my life happened until I have dealt with Sterling. Save yourself the headache and stress and look else for your screening. If you want multiple start dates and headaches then here is the company for you.

They were supposed to have my background check done and it's been more than a week

This has to be the WORST background check company ever. They have taken over a month to finish my background check and I was set to start my new role on 1/30/23. Anytime I cll, they give me a surface level excuse as to why it hasn't been completed. Granted, I did all of the work for them submitting my information and whatnot. They also told me they 'expedited' my background check via phone and email, however after a month I have not started the role. FYI to employers: DO NOT USE STERLING. THEY ARE NOT EFFICIENT, PERSONABLE OR RELIABLE WHEN IT COMES TO GIVING UPDATES!! IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR CANIDATE AND HAVE THEM START ON THE PROJECTED DATE, FIND ANOTHER COMPANY. It also doesn't help that the customer service is subpar and uninviting.

Absolutely useless. They basically get you to do all the work for them and tell you 'Need more info' used them for a job based in Ireland so they use a call centre based somewhere in Asia for a company based out of London !!! Says it all.

Avoid these scammers they take your deposit make up nonsense to cancel your insurance and then charge a cancellation fee of £80 odd pounds. Not bad free £80 earned within a week. I am seeking advice at the moment.

Absolutely incompetent, unaware of rights to work legislation and will demand documents you couldn't possibly have as a British Citizen. I have attempted to use Sterling on 3 separate occasions and every time it was a bad experience. Slow responses, errors flagged that are not warranted, and then must later be rectified by painstaking back and forth with staff that do not seem to understand your emails. The first experience I had, Sterling returned that there was a discrepancy with my details that caused me to lose the job, but refused to tell me what that discrepancy was so I could avoid the issue in the future. Absolutely awful. I would highly recommend that all companies using them adopt another third party screening, as they are wholly unable to do their jobs.
