So many 1 star reviews - and for good reason. apart from entirely un-intuitive systems with 7 years of address history needed (anyone living in London knows how arduous that is - made worse by such a slow, repeatedly crashing/failing website). Then we come onto the photo identification / AI. Not only are the reference pictures wholly inaccurate (learning the hard way that my identical photos were actually not close enough to the camera - making their reference points utterly pointless and time-wasting) but the recognition software fails to read perfectly legible text. The customer service was useless - they no answers, only guesses and half-arsed attempts as accusatory excuse making. Shambles of a company.

Terrible service and extremely slow, they reply after 1.5 weeks. They were contracted to do my background search. I had to provide proof of unemployment. They provide instructions on how to do this, Go to the Government website and submit documents which show when you have paid tax by week. I did exactly what the instruction said in their own email. showing exactly when I have paid tax. Using some logic you would understand the period i did not pay tax is proof of unemployment. They email me back saying this is proof of employment and not unemployment....despite me following their own exact instructions. Now I am on the phone for 30 minutes trying to understand why they have rejected the proof. If I email them back, they will reply more than one week later. Unfortunately, I cannot give this company 0 stars. these clowns have delayed my employment start date. Well done.

Terrible! The recruiter did not answer his phone or return my calls/ voicemails when I was waiting on the status of a background check (which I went through tons of red tape to complete), he gave me occasional updates, but that stopped near the end of my background check process, so it counted for nothing basically, I fell on hard times and had my number conveniently deactivated, I had to give him a new number a friend allowed me to use, and he NEVER passed it on to the hiring manager that offered me a job at Target through MarketSource! His name is Ishaq Khan by the way, so as a result the employer could not reach me and I lost out on a job that I had waited over a month for, it sucks I can't give 0 Stars, I was so stressed around that time, that I thought I would end up having a mental breakdown, as well as relentless chest pains and I was totally poor (still am) but I got another job through another company, NO THANKS TO ISHAQ! Do better please, I wouldn't wish this sort of situation on my worst enemy! I am sure there are better recruiters out there that work for this establishment, but Ishaq definitely does not represent you guys very well at all, he may be busy, but the length of time he strung me along was DEFINITELY NOT OKAY in my book! That is my review... Can I give 0 stars?? No? Well if you guys make that a feature, that sure would be nice. I sure wish you would show him this review, not that, that would make a difference.

Took extremely too long to get results and employees need to be trsined correctly not to give giving and false and wrong information. Your company should not be ablento extend a background check as many times as you feel nessary just because you are unable to complete it in a timely manera. Horrible service and expierience.

I got asked to leave feedback for Sterling about their customer service... they haven't even actually replied to my query yet, so a bit cheeky to ask for feedback.

Worse than Comcast - and that's quite an achievement. The background group that handled our account was only able to communicate via email...supposedly. I emailed them for weeks - multiple times, through direct email and intra-site webmail...nothing. Each time I called them, I would either get disconnected or told I would get a call back by the end of the day...nothing. Finally giving up the ghost and looking for a new vendor. This company needs a policies/procedures review and overhaul.

I'm extremely disappointed with Sterling Check's background screening services. I submitted my application on Feb. 24th, and it's now March 27th, and my background check is still ongoing. Even after they claimed to have expedited the process on March 17th, I still haven't received any updates. The worst part is that because of their delay, I cannot start my new job at ATT on April 4th as planned. I have never had any issues with background checks before, and I even self-disclosed information to help the process, but Sterling Check still failed to deliver within 30 days, even though the court is located in the same state they are headquartered in. To make matters worse, they even asked for more information, which I promptly emailed back to them after I ran a background check on myself. Overall, I am very frustrated with their incompetence, and I cannot recommend their services to anyone.

As a volunteer, I have used Sterling Volunteer services in the past. I recently discovered that when you give Sterling permission to run your background check, it is NOT A ONE-TIME BACKGROUND CHECK. Sterling automatically re-runs your background check EVERY MONTH FOR A YEAR AFTER THAT DATE. THIS NEEDS TO BE DISCLOSED BY BOTH STERLING AND THE ORGANIZATION THAT YOU ARE VOLUNTEERING FOR. OTHERWISE IT IS A VIOLATION OF YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS AND SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. My three year background just expired and I was asked to renew. Because of this policy, I have decided to resign from my volunteer position. Sterling needs to either inform applicants of how their data, which includes SSN, is being used, or change it to a one-time background check.
