Sterling has caused our family weeks of lost wages because they don't use common sense background checking techniques. Instead of filing a background check request with a county clerk's office in the state of IL they send "someone" to the court house who has no clue what they are looking for. After calling the county clerks office, we had the necessary info for a background check while Sterling has nothing 3 weeks later. Sterling is the most incompetent company in the background check business. Use someone else. Sterling should be ashamed of the hardships they create for families.

I keep getting emails for other people and than when I try to check my results it says can’t confirm identity

They call my company for a verification of employment but have the wrong contact number. I leave a voicemail with the correct contact number since every time I call back it goes to voicemail but they won't call the correct number back and the cycle continues. Very frustrating and takes days to be able to reach them and get them the information they need. Additionally every time they call I have to listen to the voicemail numerous times to make out the call back number and reference number they provide because of how fast they speak.

I'm not satisfied. Just wish you had a link so that as an employee. I can check on the status of the background check. Just like One source does when doing a background check so one knows the progress of the background check. This company took to long and cost me my job.

Frustrating experience. They keep asking for documents that do not exist because they need me to prove that I was unemployed for a month between the date I graduated from university to the date I started working. They have absolutely no knowledge about how things work in different countries and what kind of documentation may or may not be available depending on the situation. I have explained the matter three times and they still don't get it. They told me they underdstood and would proceed further but then they go back asking for documents that do not exist in my country. I think I will escalate the matter to my employer. Another example I had to send them my ID three times besides uploading it to their software. The perfect definition of incompetence.

Incompetency to its finest. Insanely frustrating experience I wouldn't recommend any company to put their candidates through. I wonder how a company like this can be still in business with such a terrible UX on their website and incompetent fulfillment team and customer service. They request an insane amount of documentation, more than once and then they can't even find the right documents within the ones they've requested and ask you for more documents. No matter how many times you email or call, just a black hole of time wasted. Escalating to my potential employer was the only thing that worked.

No feedback given during application process, not even an email to say the application had been rejected. Had to log in to their portal just to be able to see the rejected notification, typical ghosting company makes you fill out pages and pages of information to apply for a job and no regard for the people apply whatsoever.

Logging in doesn't work correctly with the two factor authentication and if by some miracle it does (tried 12 times) when click to answer the questions, it takes you to an activity page that says nothing is outstanding. When you question this on the helpline, they say you've submitted nothing but then simply read off a script of possible solutions all of which don't help. I'm now waiting for there technical team to call me back to hopefully help with a screen share. My link runs out very soon and I suspect I'll be back at the beginning of the whole process.
