If are “lucky” to have SterlingCheck do background check based on your future employer request you need to keep a few things in mind. They have 2 groups: one NA and another one international. You can talk directly with NA team but you can’t talk to international team. Communication with Sterling is bad. Different teams ask for the same info 2 or 3 times. Always follow up on every request. It’s not only Sterling it’s your company recruiter requests that they need to comply with. Sterling doesn’t do anything on their own. Always check with your recruiter what info is still missing. Recruiter has to accept every search conducted by Sterling. It’s true DIY background search. In one case I had to call 5 times to get right info on why the search wasn’t done yet. Sterling is a weird company but so is your future employer that hired them. Unfortunately, Sterling now is the biggest background search company in US & Canada. You need to learn how to handle them.
