From the very beginning, I was deceived by this company. LIE #1 The first man I talked to told me my items would be loaded into one truck and driven immediately to my new home. LIE #2 The price I was given was set, or so I was told. He even told me it was illegal to change prices. LIE #3 I was told he would see me through the entire process. After numerous phone calls, I found out he left the company and no one knew what was going on. By this point I had already paid a hefty deposit and finally got my file put with another man. He too left the company soon after. Fast forward to the pick up day. After many unanswered calls, they finally met me to pick up my things in a uhaul truck. They had no packing tape, so I gave them what I had. There was only 2 of them. I was told that I had too many items so I had to pay 3500 more. I was stuck because I was flying out the next day! Mind you, I had sent them photos of what was being moved. After tons of stress they had my items packed. I flew out. After trying to reach someone about delivery date, I was told that it could take a month. After alot of agony and calls, they show up a month later with one guy to unload. He has to call 2 other guys. One of the men decided it was okay to pee all over the toilet seat and floor. They dropped my cabinet and shattered the glass and of course, left the glass on the ground. Pretty much every box is smashed. I am dreading opening them up. My entire life was in that truck and they didn't care. I am heartbroken. They also used Gold Elite corporation for the actual movers...which was another lie that I was told

If you want to be lied to, charged double the agreed upon price, have your items arrive 3 weeks late...broken, and the drivers urinate all over your guest bathroom then this is the company for you to put your stress level to the max. I was assisting my Mother with a big emotional move. Back in February, this company had great reviews, but took a drastic decline when it came time to move. The original person we spoke to gave us a price and timeline that we agreed upon. Turns out this person disappeared in a cloud of smoke and no one bothered to take over his clients. When someone else took over after what felt like dozens of phone calls, the price almost doubled. The communication is absolutely terrible and they like to ghost your phone calls. Be prepared for them to make up fees and add on costs. We were told her items took up more space than what it took up when it was delivered (paid for it too). The household good were loaded on a truck and then just sat for over 3 weeks without any movement. They claimed they needed to put the items on pallets and wrap it......this was not completed as it was delivered in a moving truck as is. The drivers ended up unloading broken items and dropping a glass display cabinet on the ground then left the glass. They even urinated all over the guest bathroom toilet seat and floor then had the audacity to ask for a tip after they finished. My husband and I have had our fair share of military moves all over the world and this was by far the worst we have ever seen. DO NOT USE!!! You would be better off using a U-Haul and moving yourself. Believe me...it'll be cheaper and less stress.

I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but my recent move with Southwest American Moving (SAM) turned into one of the most unsafe, deceptive, and violating experiences of my life. I chose this company because of a representative named Bill West. He was warm, reassuring, and convincing enough that I cancelled my original moving plans and trusted SAM with everything I own. I genuinely believed I was choosing a company that cared. The moment the movers arrived, everything changed. They didn’t show up in a SAM truck. They weren’t in uniforms. They had no badges, no identification, nothing professional at all. They arrived in an unmarked Enterprise rental truck, and my stomach dropped. Then came the bait‑and‑switch: my written quote of $3,600 suddenly jumped to $5,116 before they loaded a single item. I was stuck, I had to be out of my home, my deposit was non‑refundable, and they refused to accept a credit card even though my contract said it was allowed. They demanded cash only. When I didn’t have cash, they gave me what looked like a personal Zelle account. When I refused to send money to a personal account, they finally accepted a personal check but made me write it to “Gold Star Elite,” not Southwest American Moving. That was the first sign something was seriously wrong. After picking up my belongings in Oregon, the crew drove the Enterprise truck to Seattle WA, where they transferred everything to an 18‑wheeler driver I had never met or authorized. He openly told me he was “not a mover” and was only paid by the mile to drive the load. When he arrived in Texas, he demanded cash on delivery for the remaining balance, then demanded an additional $600, claiming he had to rent a U‑Haul and unload my belongings again. During this process, he literally picked up a stranger walking down the street, paid him $300 cash, and brought him into my home to unload my belongings. Standing in my own living room, watching two total strangers walk through my space and handle my things, I felt fear. Real fear. And that fear didn’t end when they left. This stranger now knows where I live, what I own, and the layout of my home. I no longer feel safe in the place that was supposed to be my fresh start. Then came the heartbreak. My brand‑new Tempur‑Pedic mattress, something I saved for and protected with both the original waterproof cover and a heavy‑duty protector, arrived soaked, filthy, and destroyed. Tempur‑Pedic voids the warranty for even a single fingerprint, so this wasn’t weather. This was gross negligence. Other items were broken. Some were missing. And then I discovered another customer’s furniture mixed in with mine. The driver had to return to the 18‑wheeler to exchange the incorrect items, turning my “8:00–10:30 AM” delivery into a 9:30 PM ordeal. I tried to resolve this professionally. I asked SAM to refund the cost of my move and replace my destroyed mattress, a completely reasonable request. They refused, insisted they “did nothing wrong,” and told me their contract was “iron clad,” almost daring me to act. I even sent a formal demand letter. They never responded. Then I discovered something even more disturbing. My original deposit with Bill West was charged to SAM or so I thought. My emailed receipt said SAM. But my credit card statement showed the charge came from a different company that is no longer in business. The check I was forced to write was made out to Gold Star Elite. The delivery call came from EZ Move It. Research showed they are the same company operating under different DBAs with their own DOT and MC numbers. None of this was disclosed to me. This means I did not receive services from Southwest American Moving at all. My belongings, and my safety, were handed off to entirely different companies and strangers without my knowledge or consent. And the worst part? I’m not alone. There are countless similar complaints on Yelp, BBB, Trustpilot, Facebook groups, and even their own website. The same patterns. The same bait‑and‑switch. The same cash/Zelle demands. The same damage. The same refusal to help. It’s predatory. It’s unsafe. And it’s happening over and over again. I, along with others affected, have filed complaints with the Texas Attorney General, FMCSA, and DOT. I’m sharing my story because no one deserves to go through what we did. If you’re considering hiring this company, please, for your safety, your belongings, and your peace of mind look elsewhere. No move is worth what this company put me and so many others through.

Absolutely avoid Southwest American Moving Company at all costs. This was one of the worst consumer experiences I have ever had. What started as a simple out-of-state move quickly turned into what felt like a bait-and-switch operation. I was quoted $6,000, and by the end of the move I was forced to pay $12,775—more than double the original price. I was told at pickup that the salesperson “made a mistake,” and from that point on, the charges kept increasing with little explanation and zero transparency. Once they had my belongings, I felt completely trapped. I was essentially told to pay more, leave items behind, or risk not getting my things delivered on time. That is not customer service—that is coercion. The crew showed up unprepared, without the proper tools to dismantle furniture, and spent time negotiating with a manager in another language instead of communicating with me. My stress and concerns were completely ignored while they continued to demand more money. Delivery was delayed beyond what was promised, and getting updates was nearly impossible unless I repeatedly called. When my items finally arrived, boxes were crushed, belongings were poorly handled, and it was clear there was no care taken at any point. The biggest issue is the lack of honesty. Critical details—like needing to pay for a shuttle because their truck wouldn’t fit—were buried in fine print instead of being clearly explained upfront. A reputable company would be transparent about this from the start. Doubling a customer’s cost after taking possession of their belongings is unacceptable. This company operates in a way that feels deceptive and predatory. Save yourself the stress, financial strain, and frustration—choose literally any other moving company.

We weren't looking for a moving company. We were planning on sending our items using pods, until we were called by a representative of Southwest Moving who told us he could beat their offer. Our budget for the pods was around $4k, and George gave us his estimate at $3600. This was amazing considering we were moving from La to Chicago. We accepted and paid the deposit. We had a 1400 sqft, 3 bedroom apartment. Weeks later, we reported that our initial estimate of 35 boxes would look more like 70 boxes. Southwest changed it estimate to around $6600k, though we thought this estimate wasn't really fair considering only the number of boxes changed, not the furniture pieces. But we accepted. Then the moving day came. Instead of honoring the $6600k estimate, they quoted us a price of $11,542. We were floored. Nothing had changed since the last estimate. They knew we had to pay whatever number they came up with because our lease ended that same day. I tried reaching out to George for help multiple times, but he was never heard from again and never responded. I was screwed. And they knew it. It took the team of four workers 13 hours to load the truck. They started at 10am and finished at around 11pm. For reference, our previous place was a 5 bedroom, 3300 sqft house. It took four workers four hours to load the entire house. At the destination, the truck arrived well over a week past the agreed drop off date. After unloading, the workers told me they could not assemble any of the beds due to a "liability issue" even though the reassembly was part of the original agreement. It appears clear to me that George and Southwest American Moving knew very well that they never intended to honor an agreement in good faith, and that they fully intended to nearly quadruple the estimate knowing that we would be forced to pay in the day of the move having no other options. I recommend that you avoid this company at all costs. They will give you a low-ball estimate to reel you in, then change it dramatically after you are at a point when you have to accept their final bill.

A Terrible Choice I engaged this company to move my deceased parents' things from a storage unit in Summerville, SC to my storage unit in Colorado on Nov 25, and had much the same experience as the person who also wrote a review in Nov, 2025. I researched moving companies thoroughly and chose this carrier. Mark, the sales rep who sold me the job assured me they were a very professional company, cared a lot about customer service, had a good crew and proper trucks. I did almost all the packing with new cardboard boxes. * The truck was to arrive between 1--5 p.m. At 5:45 a pickup truck pulling a long, ramshackle trailer arrived with only the driver, no crew, and 72 year-old me standing in the dark outside waiting for them. No insignia or logos or uniforms or crew. The driver insisted he needed to load the "pick up" then and go. *When questioned about the 'crew' the driver said he could do it all himself, he didn't need anyone else. *I expressed my concerns about the trailer and its low clearance and shabbiness. I told him I did not feel comfortable putting my possessions in that trailer, nor did I feel good that he had no uniform, no helpers, had arrived late and insisted on doing the move that night. *He called customer service to have them talk to me. I told them what I had expected and paid for. *As I was talking with Customer Service, the driver, Kosta, said he was going to pick up his helper! This, after he had told me he was going to load the truck by himself! This local man was the only good thing about the whole ordeal. *Customer service had the owner of the company call me. I had not let them load the trailer because I had a terrible gut feeling about the whole thing by then. *The owner, a man named Michael with a military background, Mark said, was not interested in hearing or solving my concerns about going forward with the move: the equipment, the lateness. the lack of a crew, etc. When told that I didn't feel confident that the trailer was roadworthy, and why, he got mad and said I was "Snooty," that the trailer had been inspected and registered to do the kind of job it was there to do. I said I had expected a uniformed crew in a proper moving truck with logo, etc. He said I was wasting time complaining, for which I was going to have to pay $250 per hour, so I should just relax and let the men do their jobs so they could go home to their families. We had a shouting match and he screamed at me: "YOU ARE WRONG! THE CUSTOMER IS WRONG, THE CUSTOMER IS WRONG!!" He told me he could send a proper truck, etc, but I would have to wait several more weeks for it to be arranged. I was totally at a loss and told Michael that because he had me over a barrel I would let the men go ahead but that I didn't like the whole situation and it wasn't the end of this. I asked for his last name and he said he didn't want to tell me because he didn't want me showing up at his house!!! I told him I was going to report this whole situation. (And by the way, SW American Moving is not a member of the Better Business Bureau; now I know why). *The helper loaded most of my things into the trailer. Kosta didn't do much but sit in the truck. I had a terrible feeling as I saw my boxes go into the trailer. I knew it was not going to end well, and it didn't. After the helper finished loading about 8:45, I went ahead and took the helper home because Kosta was still calculating. He finished at 10:00 p.m. and told me that I owed more money than what I was told to bring with me to pay at pick-up.--more than $800!! I gave him a check. *Early morning on Dec 8, I got a text saying "we are trying to deliver today to you in Boulder." Another mover (not SW American Moving) had my things and needed to drop them off that day, with no previous notice! When the truck got to my storage unit with the things, the boxes jingled with broken glass and china. They were crushed, bent, gouged, torn and in terrible shape. The local crew the mover had picked up in Boulder were great but the mover was not, having told me that she had looked at the boxes when they were being loaded and they looked OK!!! I called customer service and gave the employee the whole story in a formal complaint. He said I would hear back from them; I have not. Choosing this company ended up causing me substantial trauma.

Please modify in a professional manner for the review with my experience "Southwest American Movers" My move was a nightmare it all started on Nov.21 2025 when the movers were supposed to arrived at my house but after many attempts to contact customer services to get an update I finally got ahold of someone and I was told that the driver was on another run and my pickup will be between 12 noon and 3pm on Nov. 22/2025. Well the movers did not show up to my house until 8:30 PM and was finish at about 12:30. at that point the driver called me in the back of the house to talk about the price we were in there for about 30 minutes, in that time one of the movers broke into my car and took $3300 and I did not realized that until after they had left I have professionally revised your account of the incident. This version clearly states the facts, maintains a serious tone appropriate for a formal review, and omits casual language while highlighting key issues: To Whom It May Concern at Southwest American Movers: I am writing to formally detail the issues and deeply negative experience I had regarding my recent move scheduled with your company. The service provided was unsatisfactory, culminating in a severe incident that requires immediate attention. My scheduled pickup date was November 21, 2025. After the movers failed to arrive as scheduled and numerous unsuccessful attempts to reach customer service for an update, I finally made contact with a representative. I was informed that the driver was on another route and that my new pickup window would be between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM on November 22, 2025. The movers ultimately did not arrive until 8:30 PM on November 22nd. The packing and loading process concluded around 12:30 AM. During this time, the driver requested a private conversation with me at the back of the house to discuss the pricing details, which lasted approximately 30 minutes. It was during this period that one of the individuals present on my property unlawfully entered my vehicle and stole $3,300 in cash. I did not discover this theft until after the moving crew had departed my residence. This experience, marked by significant scheduling failures and culminating in a serious criminal act by a member of your crew, was a complete nightmare. I expect a formal response regarding this matter immediately.
