Our cabin was RAT INFESTED. We had to leave at 3am to drive home. Our food was eaten through by the rats & contaminated & this horrible company will not reimburse us for it!! Beware!!

We are sincerely sorry that your stay at Hothouse Hideaway ended this way. Discovering evidence of rodents in the kitchen, having concerns about the safety of your groceries, and ultimately leaving the cabin during the night was understandably upsetting and is not the experience we want any guest to have.
We do want to respectfully clarify the full amount of your reservation was reimbursed through the chargeback that was filed and accepted. Because the entire reservation amount was returned through that process, we were unable to issue an additional refund beyond the full reimbursement already received.
That does not diminish the seriousness of what you experienced. We took your report and the photos you provided seriously, and the concerns at the property were addressed. We are genuinely sorry that this disrupted a getaway you had planned and looked forward to enjoying.
We understand that receiving the full cost of your stay back does not erase the frustration or inconvenience of what happened, and we regret that this was your experience with Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals. Thank you for bringing the condition of the home to our attention and allowing us the opportunity to address it.

Filthy. Rodents. Unresponsive management.
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this property. We arrived to find numerous issues, including an incorrect bedroom listing (advertised as a king bed but actually a queen), a non-functioning oven, a TV in the den that constantly flickered whenever it was turned on, excessively noisy ceiling fans, dirty dishes in the cabinets, dirty floors, rodent droppings in kitchen drawers, a dead mouse under the sink, the main deck covered in charcoal ash, the terrace-level deck covered in green mold, and several other cleanliness and maintenance issues.
The most concerning issue was the condition of the bed linens in every bedroom. Based on what we found, we did not feel they had been freshly changed before our arrival. We had no choice but to sleep in them the first night because housekeeping could not come until the following day. Even after housekeeping arrived, the bed linens still were not changed until we specifically requested it, despite providing management with a detailed list of everything that needed to be addressed.
Maintenance had to come to the property four separate times during our stay. One visit was to replace a downstairs bedroom smoke detector that had been disabled and began chirping throughout the day and night. When we took it down to check the battery so we could put our baby to bed, we discovered it had been permanently deactivated and needed to be replaced.
Communication was also very poor. Responses through the Airbnb app were slow, and management repeatedly chose to communicate by phone after 8:00 p.m. Our requests to speak by phone during normal business hours were ignored, making it difficult to get timely answers while leaving very little documented in the Airbnb message thread.
Because this was a holiday weekend, neither the property management company nor Airbnb was able to provide alternative accommodations, so we were forced to remain at the property while the issues were addressed.
For a property costing over $500 per night, we expected a clean, safe, and accurately represented home. Instead, we spent the beginning of our vacation documenting issues, coordinating housekeeping and maintenance, and following up on problems that should have been resolved before we arrived. Even after providing a detailed written list and speaking directly with housekeeping, the main deck remained covered in charcoal ash. The terrace-level deck was also covered in green mold throughout our stay.
Despite all of these issues, we received only a $167 refund, which did not come close to reflecting the impact these problems had on our stay.
We would not stay at this property again, and based on our experience, we would not book another property managed by Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're genuinely sorry that your stay did not meet the expectations you had when booking your vacation.
We understand how disappointing it must have been to arrive and encounter multiple concerns, especially over a holiday weekend when relocating to another property wasn't a realistic option. While our team worked to respond by sending housekeeping back to the cabin, dispatching maintenance multiple times, replacing the smoke detector, and coordinating with Airbnb regarding a partial refund, it's clear that our efforts did not restore your confidence or provide the experience you deserved.
Regarding the oven, we understand it was reported as not working upon your arrival. A licensed appliance technician was dispatched and, after inspecting the appliance, found it to be operating properly at the time of service. Even so, we recognize how frustrating it is when something appears not to be functioning during your vacation, and we're sorry for the inconvenience and uncertainty it caused.
Cleanliness, accurate listings, and responsive communication are standards we take seriously, and we're disappointed that we fell short in several of those areas during your stay. Your feedback has been shared with our operations, housekeeping, and property management teams so each concern can be thoroughly reviewed and addressed.
While we recognize this response cannot change your experience, we appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. Feedback like yours helps us identify where we need to improve, and we remain committed to providing a better experience for future guests.
We wish you and your family all the best, and thank you again for your candid feedback.

At first when we arrive to our cabin at…
At first when we arrive to our cabin at Blue Ridge Georgia 490 Eagles Nest Dr., Blue Ridge, GA. Everything seemed fine. We booked the cabin for four nights. Price is a little high but that’s OK. It’s summertime. Our stay in the cabin was OK. There was a lot of things broken. The hot tub was leaking. They did send out a mechanic to fix it , try to fix it unable to fix it, ,but we did notice the downstairs bedroom would not lock or the bathroom so no privacy there and also we noticed a lot of the baseboards on top of the kitchen. Cabinets were busted and broken so we said that’s fine. We still enjoyed our stay and had a great time but then when we get HOME , another bill two days later , saying that we had a dog in the cabin I don’t even own a dog. I’ve never owned a dog my whole life we had a dog next-door run into our cabin just for a second, but I kicked the dog out really quick now they’re trying to charge me a fee watch out. These people are shady. Very scandalous. Very very sneaky people ????? Make sure you documentation everything when you first go in their cabins take pictures. They’re trying to say that we had dog food in the cabin. That’s not true because I don’t own a dog. Why would I bring dog food to a cabin when I don’t own a dog.!!!

Joshua,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry that parts of your stay did not meet expectations, especially regarding the hot tub issue and the maintenance concerns you experienced during your visit. We appreciate you bringing those items to our attention, and we understand how disappointing it can be when a vacation doesn’t feel seamless.
We also appreciate your acknowledgment that our team responded by sending maintenance during your stay, even though we recognize the hot tub issue was not fully resolved to your satisfaction. We’ve shared your notes regarding the bathroom/bedroom locks, exterior maintenance, and view expectations with our team for further review.
Regarding the early check-in fee, we understand that additional charges can feel frustrating. Our early arrival option is an optional service offered when operationally possible, and the fee helps cover the additional labor and scheduling required to prepare a home safely and thoroughly ahead of standard check-in. This fee is disclosed prior to confirmation and is standard practice across many vacation rental operators.
We want to address the pet fee concern, as we take billing accuracy and guest trust very seriously. The pet fee was not assessed arbitrarily. During our post-departure inspection, our team documented multiple signs consistent with a pet being present in the cabin. While we understand there may be confusion or circumstances we are unaware of, we would never intentionally charge a guest without cause.
If you believe there has been a misunderstanding, we welcome the opportunity to discuss it directly and review the documentation together. Please contact our office at your earliest convenience.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you all the best.

Absolutely disgusting pool ( green & cloudy)
We rented the moonlight retreat for the pool. However when we arrived on Saturday May 30th the pool was green! We were hopeful that issue would get taken care of and that the pool would get clean. However that was not the case. We called Monday to complain about the situation. Tuesday at 1130 the neighbor who lives in the barn in the front of the property came over to throw pool shock into the pool. When we asked him about it he said he is just doing a “favor for the owners” and that if we had a complaint to bring it up with southern comfort. So I called southern comfort again and voiced my opinion. I stated that having the neighbor come was not going to resolve the issue and that I did not want to have to call back in 4 hours when they said my family would be able to swim; when in fact we wouldn’t be able to swim. You guessed right; I had to call back and complain and send more pictures. At this point my family with young kids were getting very frustrated with the fact that the pool was green with algae and cloudiness and sediment. I called, emailed, and sent picture updates everyday. For being on vacation this was not relaxing at all. I spent so much of my time exposing to my kids that it was unsafe to swim in the pool. Southern comfort said that the owners are responsible for the pool and that we needed to wait until Thursday for the regularly scheduled pool cleaning day. Thursday came and the pool lady said she had just treated the pool last Thursday for this algae problem and shocked it then. So the fact that the owners were aware of the algae problem and let the pool continue in this state and have people rent the house is ridiculous. If you cannot maintain the pool to the state that you advertise than you should not have a pool. Southern comfort contract states pristine pool conditions with refreshing and relaxing experience. The fact that we couldn’t use the pool the entire week we were there is extremely saddening. The pool cleaner shocked the pool and closed it until Friday. Unfortunately Friday came and the pool was still green and cloudy and absolutely disgusting. You could not even see the cleaner robot in the deep end because it was that dark and disgusting. Saturday when we left the pool was still green aswell. So I feel bad for the next family to rent the house aswell.
All around this was one of the worst and most frustrating vacations I have ever taken.
I spoke with 4 different southern comfort representatives and they said they were in contact with owner relations and management to get us into the pool as quickly as possible. Well that never happened and that is quite sad. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the owners (Cecilia and Steven) and also southern comfort for not delivering.

Carley,
We are truly sorry for the disappointing experience your family had at Moonlight Retreat. We understand how frustrating and upsetting it must have been to book this cabin for the pool, only to be unable to safely enjoy it during your stay.
We sincerely apologize for both the condition of the pool and the repeated inconvenience of needing to follow up for updates throughout your vacation. We understand that your time should have been spent relaxing and making memories with your family, not dealing with ongoing frustrations.
Our management team has personally reviewed this situation, and we have taken steps to address both the property concerns and our internal communication. We have also worked directly with you toward resolution following your stay.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We sincerely apologize for falling short of the experience we strive to provide and appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve.
Warmly,
SCCR Team

Dirty
Hair in the beds, mostly in front bedroom. Dust and dirt behind bed and nightstand found when I plugged phone charger in. Towels smelled sour and a couple had a strange scent. I washed all the linens and were fine after that. Tons of linens like 3 feet stuffed in broom closet. Vacuum under them so when bathroom rugs gritty you know not vacuumed. I vacuumed then couldn’t get the vacuum back in the closet due to the amount of linens piled in. Glasses in cabinet finger prints smears all over. Blender sticky and filthy. The Jets in master tub moldy. Bought bleach to clean with. A huge cockroach which I won’t hold against them. Surprised I only saw one. I basically had to wash everything before using. Evidently when I verbalized my concerns I was told Big Canoe housekeeping does the cleaning. I was told they would make it right. We will see….

Thank you for your honesty—I’m so sorry the cleanliness of the home fell so far short of expectations. What you described is not the level of care we stand for, and I completely understand how disappointing that must have been. I’m glad we were able to refund your cleaning fee, and we’re taking this seriously with the teams involved to prevent this from happening again.
Please let us know if there’s anything more we can do—we genuinely want to make this right and earn back your confidence.

Do not use this cabin rental company
Do not use this cabin rental company. We booked a 5 night stay at hazy hideaway in cherry log, ga recently for quite some money. Upon arrival we found the floors and carpet were dirty, the television in the living room's sound would not work, the TV in the bathroom did not work at all, they had signs telling you not to change the thermostat even though it was 27 degrees outside or you would incur an additional charge. They provided no extra toilet paper besides what was on the dispenser, no extra paper towels, and two dishwashers tabs. The first day we're there we found out the dryer was broken and contacted management. When we left Friday it was still not fixed after being told continously they would have it taken care of. When we asked if we could get some money back for the inconvenience they offered 15% off our next visit. This might not have been such am issue if our stay was less time and we didnt have 6 people in the home, although the cleanliness of this place was very disappointing as well for the money you spend. There are too many cabin rental choices in blue ridge to use this company again. Poor customer service.

UNSAFE FOR CHILDREN!!!
UNSAFE FOR CHILDREN!!!! PLEASE READ!!!!
Where do I even begin with this…. There are so many issues with this company I don’t even know where to start. Their lack of concern for the health and well being of their clientele…especially those with young children is frankly astounding.
We arrived to Echoes on the Lake on March 4th. Upon arrival I noticed the security pad hanging by a cord and really should have know at that point the horror we were walking into. I began to notice several dead Asian lady beetles on the floor (keep in mind these look like ladybugs but BITE and it hurts). It was pretty gross but I began sweeping it up figuring it wouldn’t be a big issue…the deeper into the house I got the more dead bugs I found. That was my first call to Southern “dis”Comfort…the woman on the phone assured me this is normal. I requested the cleaning service to come back immediately, as even if this was normal, surely this amount of dead bugs did not accumulate in 24-48 hours. At that point I looked above me and realized the place was SWARMED. I’ll let you review photos and video for yourself to see if you would consider this “a normal a seasonal occurrence” as has been stated to me multiple times by their very dismissive manager, Amber.
I demanded a relocation at that point….i was given the option of 6 new homes… 3 of which were less expensive and more run down than the home we had booked…one which wasn’t even in Blue Ridge…and non of which were on the lake (which was the ENTIRE purpose of our rental and trip). After 1.5 hours of back and forth my one year old was exhausted and we just needed a safe place for us all to sleep. I requested a follow up from management first thing the next morning as I made it clear that where we were relocating we did not want to stay for the weekend. Guess what? That call never came. I made calls the next morning and was told management was in a meeting and could not speak to me. Then the power went out in the new home… WHAT A JOKE. In follow up emails Amber States she tried calling me twice (oh gee thanks…once on March 5th at 3:30 in the afternoon…24 hours since this ordeal started). I never received this call. And once again on March 16th 2 freaking weeks after this nightmare began.
PLEASE trust the more recent negative reviews of this company. You do not want to rent from them…their homes are run down and unsafe and their customer service is dismissive and rude.
I’m sure the company is going to follow up now with an apparent sincere apology publicly…so you have the true answer here to whatever vague “compensation” they are going to state the offered…it is for a discount on an upcoming stay. HHAHAHAHA WHY WOULD I EVER RENT WITH YALL AGAIN?! That is not compensation.
