Sony has frustrating customer service
Just had the most frustrating, non sensical customer service experience today when calling the customer service number. Couldn't speak to anyone that is American or has a good command of the english language. I have a 5 disc changer with home stereo speakers that I bought new in 2009. It has been a great player and I really would just like to fix it instead of getting a new one. I can't find anyone local who will work on it, so I thought by calling customer service that I could at least send it to a service center and they could direct me on where to service it. I have already been online to look up servicers in my area which there are none. I explained all of this over the phone to 2 customer service agents after being on hold for 30 min. One of them passed me to the other and the other sent me a link to go online and look for service centers in my area. I explained to her that we are going in circles because there are no service centers in my area. I gave her the model # but she still mistook my dvd player for a television and i could tell she was just reading a script and I was going to get nowhere. I am still in the same situation. I can see that Sony no longer has a will to service their older devices and the solution is to just buy new. I don't want to buy from a company that does not stand behind what it sells and then trys to purposefully make the customer service experience difficult and frustrating in order to just make someone give up and look for a new device. Sony used to be a great brand but I don't think this is the case anymore. Looks like I will be buying a new home system that will not be a Sony this time or any time in the future. They will be a brand I stay away from.
