We love Silverado Bellingham. Our mom is truly happy and well taken care of here. If we have a concern about anything large or small, a simple email will or call will have leadership addressing it immediately. They hear us...and that's so very important. With such a knowledgeable staff, we have confidence in the care received. We are also very happy with the daily activities she is able to participate in. She particularly likes the challenge of trivia and other community games that allow her to be social. Thank you Silverado for giving us peace of mind.

Silverado Care Tustin Hacienda, California
If you are looking for a memory care community with a lot of heart, you'll find the leadership and team at Silverado Care Tustin Hacienda, California, truly wonderful. Their leadership is excellent, strong in communications, experience, and expertise. I didn't know what to expect when I had to find a place for my loved one with dementia. They were welcoming and informative when I was researching residences and trying to decide. Throughout the years, they have been so kind, patient, and helpful. I appreciate their care, and I also like how they are always furthering their education and understanding of dementia and caregiving so they can provide the residents and their families with strong healthcare and meaningful experiences. Theirs is definitely a labor of love, and for that I'm grateful. Thank you Silverado Care Tustin Hacienda. - Just one of many who feel this way.

Forever Grateful - Silverado Memory Care in Alexandria ROCKS!
The worst part about the COVID-19 lock down is that we didn’t get the opportunity to meet you, Loren Shook, CEO + Founder of Silverado Memory Care. I thank you for your vision, but mostly applaud you for having the insight to hire the most incredible administrator/exec director/angel on earth …Katie Hilburn @Silverado Memory Care, Alexandria VA. She is above and beyond the BEST thing that has happened for Tom + and our entire family. There are no words to describe how grateful we are for her compassion, her wisdom and her leadership — and that was before we ever got wind of COVID-19. Since that time, she has only shined brighter {I know..really?? how could this be??} by bringing calm to the storm and by ensuring residents and their families that she was at the helm and that we would remain ‘connected’ in this time of ‘distancing’. So Grateful.
Katie is our beacon of light and hope… and she and her staff represent all that is right in this world …all that we wish for in those who care for our loved ones …especially those most vulnerable with dementia. Thank you, Katie …You are our lifeline (and Tom’s too!)
Mr. Shook, you have a pure gem here …!! She’s the reason Silverado rocks!! But I’m sure you know that already.

Thankful to have found Silverado Alexandria
My father's dementia required more care than my mother and part-time caregivers could provide at home in Florida. Mom and I knew the time had come to relocate dad to a facility that could provide him with the round-the-clock care he needed. While the move to Silverado and the work leading up to it felt daunting at times, the staff made it as easy and seamless as possible for my father to settle in. We could not have wished for a smoother transition.
Silverado is clean and bright, and looks more like a club or hotel than what you might envision for a memory care center. Residents are allowed to move from one floor to another for activities and events, as opposed to being restricted to a certain space or floor. The fact that the entire building is dedicated to memory care makes this possible. The meals are balanced, flavorful and plentiful, as are snacks and special treats. My dad's room is clean and well maintained, regardless of when I stop by to visit. Families and approved guests are welcome and encouraged to visit at any time and, if desired, join our loved ones for meals.
Other than when he is sleeping, my father is rarely in his room. Instead, his days are filled with art, live music, bus rides, museum visits, and engaging in activities with fellow residents. The staff (all of whom are trained in dementia care) know my father's name, his interests, his likes and dislikes, and the best ways to engage him. Everyone on staff is gentle and kind and treats him with dignity and respect. He has bonded with his caregivers and enjoys spending time with them each day.
As a result, I have seen my father grow physically stronger and much more social than he had been at home, where his days were spent watching television and napping. His balance has improved from physical therapy and exercise sessions. His appearance has also improved, and he is bathed, shaved, and presentable, as opposed to in his pajamas all day. He is happy and content, cooperative, and enjoying many activities and programs that he had never done prior to the onset of dementia.
The Silverado team and community are like one big family. We have found everyone, regardless of job title or responsibility, to be accommodating, dedicated, and happy to help me and my family navigate this journey. Educational and social programs for families are informative and serve to remind us that we’re all in this together. As the community continues to grow, the positive energy is palpable.
If you are searching for a memory care community for a loved one, I urge you to put Silverado Alexandria at the top of your list. Tour the facility. Talk with the staff. Spend time with the residents and meet their families. Silverado Alexandria will challenge your assumptions about what memory care can be.

True Memory Care as Advertised
Our dad was afflicted with a very difficult case of amyloid angiopathy. Silverado said they specialize in the “toughest of the tough.” They have delivered nine months of stability and great care unlike other “memory care light” facilities. Silverado is truly what they say. We are most grateful.

Silverado was a godsend.
I struggled to find a place for my mother. It was difficult taking her out of her home. Silverado was a godsend. My mom has thrived there due to a wonderful, caring, dedicated staff. It is truly a community where all are loved and appreciated.

Very grateful
Silverado took care of my dad who had Alzheimer's for about 18 months through his passing. My dad had a lot of difficulties throughout his life and in an unexpected way I think the time he spent in Silverado might have been some of the best. Everybody knew his name, he was never lonely, once he got comfortable living there he had nothing he worried about. The caretakers were patient and there was plenty of coverage for him and the other residents. The grounds are really nice too. While you're there all you can see are trees, and the buildings on the campus. Everything is open and walkable. Sometimes I'd walk around just because I could. I liked feeding the chickens. My dad passed about 2 years ago and I still often think about the times visiting him in Silverado as some of the most peaceful. I'm grateful to the staff and everything that keeps a institution like this running.

Caring for a loved one with dementia…
Caring for a loved one with dementia will likely be one of the most challenging experiences for a family. While no facility is perfect, the staff at Silverado is keenly aware of the unique challenges for both the residents and their families who are receiving care. Silverado works hard to match effective care for each resident. No one person‘s condition is the same. The staff use specific dementia care techniques, love and patience to care for all the residents. There is no substitute for family involvement and their support during this most difficult time. Silverado makes every effort to integrate families into the care plan. They offer lectures, access to experts, support groups and counseling. It has been over a year since my beloved wife passed. I am grateful to the many wonderful people who cared for her at Silverado and who helped me cope with this most difficult situation. I will not forget their many kindnesses.
Sincerely,
Mark Esparza
