Forced plan changes, lost functionality, and unresolved bugs
We used ShipStation for years and it worked well—until they forced us off a legacy plan and everything started going downhill. We were explicitly told that moving to the new plan would not affect functionality. That was not true. Core features we relied on daily (SKU, price, discounts on packing slips) were quietly removed and put behind a higher-tier paywall. Even worse, the system would intermittently “restore” those features, then revert them again, which caused confusion and slowed down fulfillment. On top of that, we’ve had a billing issue for over a year where the system requires a $0.02 overage to purchase labels. It’s been reported multiple times, fully reproducible, and still not fixed. No timeline, no resolution. Support was inconsistent—most responses missed the point entirely. One rep finally confirmed what was actually happening, but by then the damage was done. This isn’t just a bug or a misunderstanding. It’s a combination of poor communication, backend instability, and pushing customers toward higher-priced plans by removing previously available functionality. If your business depends on reliable fulfillment, this is not something you want to deal with. We’re moving to a competitor.

Thank you for taking the time to share this in such detail. We're sorry to hear about the experience that brought you to this point. We understand how disruptive it is when features you've relied on daily are no longer available as expected, and we hear your frustration around the communication during your plan transition. That kind of inconsistency, especially when it directly impacts fulfillment, is not the experience we want for our customers, and we regret that it played out this way for you. The billing issue you've described, along with the intermittent feature behavior, has been noted and passed along to our internal teams. We're sorry that after multiple reports, you didn't receive the resolution or transparency you were looking for. We genuinely wish you well with your new provider. If there's anything we can do to make your transition easier, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're happy to help however we can.
