I was a Shentel Internet customer for a period of four-years. The problem I kept having was Internet cable packet errors reported by my cable MODEM. I reported this to Shentel numerous times; Shentel sent out a contractor service provider to troubleshoot the issue. First words out of his mouth, it's your home's internal cable wiring. I was a network engineer for Motorola for years, so I bought a secondhand cable tester off eBay. Checked my internal cable, all good. Contacted Shentel again, sent out Company troubleshooter. He found upstream amp was causing problem, not fixed. Contacted Shentel again about the open ticket. Shentel again sent out a tech, found upstream amp was the problem, not fixed. Well you get the gist. On my fifth call to Shentel, they sent out another tech, he did the whole troubleshooting thing again, found upstream amp bad. This went on for three-months with the same ticket number open that entire time with no resolution. I finally gave up and transferred my Internet cable service to Comcast. Haven't had a single problem since migrating the same MODEM, and internal cable system to Comcast. Shentel in their ads says "local tech support". If they are unwilling to fix the problems with their network, what difference does it make where the "tech support is coming from". Very dissatisfied with the level of support from Shentel.
