I purchased a mattress from someone in my area. he came to my house with the mattress and was going to help me upstairs to the bedroom to put it on my bed. we discussed folding the mattress and strapping it with two straps. I didn't know that this type of mattress couldn't be folded or it would crush the coil springs and ruin my mattress, he didn't know either, he should have known and I paid $700 for a mattress that got room from their negligence. He has blocked me on marketplace so I can't complain. don't fold the mattress that you're not supposed to fold if someone doesn't know what they're talking about

Forget about speaking to a person. If you call the customer service number they automatically send you to voicemail and say they’ll get back to you in two business days. They don’t communicate internally and professionals who are supposed to set up pickups do not communicate clearly.

After wasting a week of my life they failed to find a rep in my area and I am back at square one with my mattress company Satva who is doing the return themselves. I highly recommend Satva for the best mattresses on the planet but would avoid doing business with sharetown on any level as they are not professional and have no regard for youbour your time

Helix Mattresses contracted ShareTown to pick up my mattress (return / donation). ShareTown did not get back to me in a timely manner. After I sent an additional inquiry, the apologized for the delay. And then told me they would not be able to pick up my mattress and that I should make arrangements, myself. And provided a lengthy list of documentation requirements I would need to follow. So I contacted Helix, and they’re arranging to have someone else pick up the mattress. UPDATE: After telling ShareTown that their self-service options wouldn’t work for me, they said they would try to book a junk hauler, but only if I spray painted TRASH onto the top of the mattress and sent them a photo. Helix sent LoadUp to haul the mattress off.

Sharetown is a logistics company that recruits associates who are willing to pick up large items from homes in their area (furniture, mattresses etc.) and resell those items on platforms like Facebook Marketplace. After applying to become a rep for them, they forwarded a webinar explaining how they assign jobs which reps are not free to accept or decline. The reps use their own resources - insured vehicle, manpower, fixing furniture and reselling it. Sharetown then monitors the entire process of pickup, repairs, storage and reselling the items using a "support" team. At the end of it, they take a cut of approximately half of the resell price. Sharetown treats their associates as if they were their employees even though they offer no job security or any other benefits, like a normal employer would. Half the resell price is a large cut considering that the associates do most of the work, while Sharetown already receives a pickup payment from the furniture companies that offer return & pickup deals to their customers (this is coming from someone who's had first hand experience with waste removal businesses). This company exploits people who are looking for an honest side hustle. Don't fall for it!

Thank you for sharing your experience — we take all feedback seriously and want to address the points you've raised. Sharetown partners with independent contractors who choose to build their own local resale side-business using our platform, dispatch network, and brand partnerships. We aim to be transparent about how the model works from the start — including the revenue split — so reps can make an informed decision before accepting any work. The revenue share reflects what each side brings to the table. Reps handle the local logistics, which we deeply value. Sharetown provides brand partnerships that generate pickup opportunities, dispatch technology, compliance support, and a structured resale system designed to help reps succeed. While there is no guaranteed pickup fee, reps earn through successful item resale, and we provide multiple layers of support to help maximize those outcomes. Support is a key part of the Rep experience. Reps have access to: A dedicated Sales Manager for pricing guidance and selling strategy A Rep Support Group for real-time questions and community insights Ongoing operational support to help navigate pickups, listings, and processes We hear the concern about job flexibility. Our model is intentional: reps are independent business owners, not employees. That distinction comes with trade-offs, and we strive to be upfront about both the opportunity and the responsibility it requires. We’re always looking to improve, and we’d welcome the chance to speak with you directly. Please reach out to us at [email protected] — we’d love to learn more about your specific experience.
