SHACKSHINE, Markham - THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY............
SHACK SHINE, MARKHAM, ONTARIO THE GOOD: This year we hired ShackShine in Markham to do window cleaning, some 36 +/-. They actaully showed up earlyier than we had agreed. This crew seemed very professional and whne done we cery pleased with the results. Given my better half is very fussy, I was pleased things went so well, For this job, I give them 5 Stars and I believe they earned them. THE BAD Given our experience noted above we asked if they did window caulking? In July we rec'd a call from a party who said he was with ShackShine calling about the caulking. After several failed attempts on his part in July, 2026, he finally appeared at our door mid August. He did his inspection, then we talked. I advised we would like to have those windows that required it to be re-caulked, i.e. old removed adn taken away and new caulk applied. We discussed two rear windows that had been botched by another party. In fact, it was he who brought up the subject. We talked about costs. He was at $1700.00, I was at $1500.00 as our funds had dwindled with other work that had already been done around the property. He said he needed to discuss with someone else and I assumed that would be his Company. I said that was fine. The next day he called and said he would do the $1500.00 all inclusive, quoted the number of windows he thought needed to be done and that he couls start the following Saturday and be done by noon. We agreed. THE UGLY he and another party show up Saturday around 8:30 AM. We left at 9:45 for a ediacal appoint. We returned at 11:55. Eventfully we walked out onto. the deck to find it littered with silicone in area nearly as long as the deck and about 6 boards wide. We called him and asked why he was not still here and told him about mess the deck was in. He said he had just left our place on was on his way back. A lie, since we had beeb back for over an hour. When he did retrun he spen some time trying to clean up the mess on the deck. When he was done doing that, all he wanted to talk about was hiw he was done, wanted to get paid and why he did ot have to homour agreement even though he was short at 6 windows in completing our agreement including the two we discussed the first time he was here. I gave him a slip with an email address at which he could send us a bill. He refused to provide a Business card or any other ID. AS I could no longer tolerate his behaviour I retreated back inside our home, he eventually left. Later we decided to look at the rest of the property and wehere shocked to find caulked over top of the, not bothering to remove it, he caulked on top of dirt and grime, never bothering to clean anything first. All in All, the workmanship was shoddy, unprofessional and certainly not something I will pay one cent for till I find out the cost of haveing the job done properly. He has called once saying he sent a bill, no bill has ever been sent in the time frame that would apply. I have written to ShackShine in Markham by email. have prrof they got it but have not heard one single word from them. VERY DISAPPOINTING!
