I have used Service Credit Union for years and always had a good experience. Unfortunately, I recently had an issue with another company basically stealing $1000 of my money. I filed a request to reverse the charges with Service Credit Union, and they refused. They did not even ask for input from the company. If they had, they would have realized that they ripped me off. Like many organizations, Service Credit Union is OK until you have a problem. Customer Service fail.

I saw on their website they offer a pre-approval loan request without a hard credit pull. I filled out the application and immediately got a hard credit pull notification. I contacted them about it and they said there was a hard pull request pop up somewhere in the application process which I don’t remember seeing so now I have a hard pull on my credit from a pre-approval check that wasn’t supposed to do a hard credit pull. What a scam.

SCU Did Not Have My Back When I Needed Them Most
I have been extremely disappointed with Service Credit Union’s handling of my card dispute. I provided extensive documentation, merchant communications, transaction records, and written Google Fi support transcripts. SCU continued requesting a dated cancellation confirmation even after I explained and documented that Google Fi’s own records do not show a successfully completed cancellation, meaning the specific document SCU keeps requesting does not exist.
I repeatedly asked what alternative documentation Visa would accept, but instead received essentially the same request again. The process has required an unreasonable amount of effort and has felt more focused on finding a reason not to proceed than helping me resolve the dispute.
After years of banking experience elsewhere, I expected much clearer communication, better follow-up, and a more practical review of the evidence provided. My experience left me feeling that SCU will not have your back when you need them most.

I have all of my accounts setup on monthly payments. This app is not user friendly, nor can you set it up for at least minimum monthly payment, so you have to put in an amount without knowing what the payment will be. I set it up with a guess at a higher amount, just so I don't have to worry about it.

Terrible Customer Service- terrible
I had set up auto withdrawals for a new car loan with my other banking account months ago. I used PLAID and even contacted Service Credit Union to walk thru the process. I was assured that all was OK. I am NOW receiving letters that my VERY FIRST payment is late and that there is no tie to my other banking account. I tried today 2 times- #1. They do not have my account information. #2. First try- waited 20 mins #3. Second try- waited over 25 mins. Still unresolved and I have demanded that THEY call ME! I despise gross incompetence and I have seen nothing but.........

Had an account with them for 30 years
Had an account with them for 30 years. Since the expanded some years ago they have become more and more like a corporate bank. The customer service people have become more and more rude. Their attitude is more about getting rid of the customer instead of helping them with their problem. I had my. credit card balance transferred to one that had no interest for 18 months. My balance showed up on the other credit card but it didn't come off my Service CU balance for a good 3 week. As a result my credit rating went way down because it looked like I owed twice as much as I really did. I talked to at least five different people. All said the same thing is wasn't their responsibility and it was their problem. Some were extremely rude in telling me this. Changed to a smaller credit Union where they treat me like a human being.

Be careful with them, make sure you read every detail in their contract because they won t tell you anything 👍👍👍
I’ve had a car loan with Service Credit Union since last year. I was overseas when I purchased the car in March, and the dealership held the vehicle until I returned stateside, taking delivery in early July. Since then, I’ve encountered issues with an insurance verification requirement and CPI adjustments on my loan. After a few months, an insurance-related charge (CPI) appeared on my account. When I tried to resolve it, I was told I hadn’t provided proof of insurance.I contacted my insurance provider and provided the binding insurance documents .Once the documents were received, Service Credit Union partially reversed the charge, but required proof of insurance from the purchase date through the pickup date at the dealership, dates that spanned overseas and several administrative steps. As a service member stationed overseas, I expected smoother handling and clear guidance on documentation timelines. I’m concerned about how similar situations could affect others in similar circumstances.
If you’re considering Service Credit Union for a loan or auto financing, I recommend:
- Confirming how proof of insurance should be provided, and whether there’s flexibility for deployed members.
- Requesting written confirmation of any charges (like CPI) and the reasons behind them.
- Asking about a dedicated member service contact for international or deployed members to streamline communication.
This review reflects my personal experience and aims to encourage improvements that would benefit all members, especially service members and overseas customers. If you’ve had a different experience, I’d be glad to hear about it and adjust the feedback accordingly.
