I applied for a posted position because…
I applied for a posted position because a friend was just hired at the company and said great things. I had an interview this morning, and I had the worst unprofessional experience I’ve had in a long time. I have an impressive resume and background and even if I still wasn’t selected I did not need to be disrespected or treated how I was treated. I did research on the company and owners and was excited to be interviewed for a respectable company. The video interview started and I was immediately told the position i applied for didn't fit my skills and experience and i should consider another position because it was just a glorified cart pusher anyway. I told her because of my previous leadership positions and experience i was looking for a leadership role and was quickly shut down and told none were available(the website has multiple listings at this time for open positions). I felt like I was annoying her and there were moments of small laughs and faces made like like I was wasting her time. She concluded the interview saying I would be considered for a position as a laser technician and asked if its something id consider. With hesitation i said yes despite it being completely different than what we were initially interviewing for. She quickly asked what id like to be paid hourly and I gave my answer. I was audibly laughed at and told there was no way Id come in at anything other than entry level $24.00hr. The listing says $24.00-$42.00hr and I requested right in the middle (on my resume lists my shop management, biomedical, operating engineer, welding experience, heavy duty repair, electrical systems, and previous firefighting experience) It was a horrible experience and Cecilia Alvarez-Airada has a serious issue that should be looked into. I want to be clear I’m not upset about not getting the position I applied for but the disrespect and tone and direction of the conversation was jarring. Presenting the alternative position and pay could have been done in a respectful manner and i probably would have accepted. The people you employ are a direct reflection of your company. If the interviews are recorded I highly implore you to review. Excellent candidates will be driven away due to her behavior. I really liked this company and now will not recommend them to anybody due to how they treat people.
