Misleading, contradictory, and unprofessional — terrible experience with ScraperAPI
Misleading, contradictory, and unprofessional — terrible experience with ScraperAPI We’ve worked with ScraperAPI for years, but our recent experience has been shockingly bad. Misrepresentation of terms: We were quoted $3,600 for 60M credits at 1 credit per Amazon request. After paying, they applied a 5-credit multiplier without ever disclosing this upfront, which meant our 60M plan was only worth 12M requests — a massive shortfall. Constant contradictions: Their team changed their story repeatedly — sometimes saying it was a “new account,” other times offering “extra credits,” then denying affiliate commissions they initially promised. Every reply told a different version of the truth. Unethical practices: At one stage, they even removed me from communication threads and tried to bypass me to directly deal with my client — completely unprofessional and unacceptable. After weeks of back-and-forth, nothing was resolved. They refused to honor the terms they sold us and wasted significant time with misleading explanations. 👉 Bottom line: ScraperAPI misrepresented pricing, shifted terms repeatedly, and acted unethically. If you want a reliable, transparent provider, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

We appreciate your feedback and want to clarify the situation for transparency. Your prior account had a unique, longstanding arrangement that was never part of our standard pricing. The new account you referred was treated as new business and therefore billed under the standard credit rate. This was not a change or misrepresentation, but simply the default terms applied to all new accounts. Additionally, referral commission is only applicable to genuinely new customers. It later became clear that this account was part of the same company already using our service, and therefore not eligible. All credits purchased were fully consumed before we could conclude further rate negotiations, and for this reason we were unable to issue a refund. While we regret that this led to frustration, our actions followed our published terms and policies, and we stand by the fairness of how this was handled.
