The course was hard going. The demands on time and focus were quite a lot. The training was well presented and delivered. The tutorials were very informative and details about what will be worth thinking about for your career path were neatly interwoven with the practical nuts and bolts of the training. There were frustrating aspects around the training being not updated for the latest version of Cinema 4D (R25) which meant often tools were names differently and some things just didn’t work. This can be remedied with minor graphics being added or FAQs on the page. The community space was very helpful and students and teaching assistants were forthcoming with advice. The calendar downloaded could have done with more detail and some of the zoom ‘lunchbreak’ events were not on that. It would be useful to have Training assistants who in the same time zones as you so there was less of a disconnect with communication when you needed help. But on the whole its good value for money.

I absolutely loved the AE Kickstart course. I could not have hoped for a better foundational series on After Effects. I now feel ready to take on more sophisticated aspects of this voluminously versatile piece of software. My TA was excellent and always responded to emails and questions promptly with thoughtful advice and feedback. Exercises were extremely well-designed, never feeling dumbed-down while highlighting certain foundational tasks that are essential to understand and learn. It's easy to see why Nol received a distinguished teaching award at Parsons; he is extremely patient and clear in his explanations and demonstrations, taking time to repeat and never rushing through a task, and is disarmingly upbeat and funny throughout. Care has also been taken by SOM to update aspects of the course from its original creation for newer versions of After Effects, which is appreciated. I can imagine that they may soon have to update certain history lessons to reflect 2017-present but so excellent is the material all around that it simply doesn't matter. If it's an After Effects kickstart you want, an After Effects Kickstart you will get!

My experience with using school of motion was absolutely amazing. From the great teacher for the course, to a great T.A and a platform( the square) for me to post my work and even see other peoples work. School of motion always provides an opportunity for me to improve myself and get real knowledge of how motion design is in the real world. Through the amazing podcast sessions and not to forget the animation lunch break. SOM has given anybody an opportunity to learn motion design irrespective of whether the person has a background in design or not. Everyone is friendly and really helpful.

I have been learning with School of Motion for 5 years now and can say that by far there is no program out there that comes close to it. The fact that you get feedback on your course work is unique, the courses are intense and I always end up learning how to improve my work. The only things not great right now are some technical glitches with “the square” - School of Motion’s online community - which I hope will be improved in the future and what felt a bit lacking this time was that students didn’t feedback each other. As far as the course goes and the feedback I got I am learning a lot. Thanks for that.

The course was comprehensive and well-structured. The learning platform made all the difference with content being released daily and support from the instructor, the TAs and the other students.
