We have just returned from 7 nts on the RCI Liberty of the Seas, it was awful, the ship is 19 years old and the light switches in our suite showed how old it is. My wife and I both have mobility issues, our Concierge Suite was at one end of the ship, the Suite Lounge and the Dining Rooms were all at the other end. It took 200 steps to get to the lift for the lounge/restaurant. Where my wife who i s a Celiac found there was no Gluten Free menu, you order from the main menu then the waiter tells you if it is available or not, he kept saying that's not available, by the end of the day my wife cried, it was dreadful. Nobody told us of the Genie Level we, would have upgraded, as we normally cruise MSC YACHT CLUB where all is included. We found that RCI is catering for a younger type of passenger, the evenings were a drag, the entertainment was cheap and not for us. The kettle had a 2 pin plug, so it had to be plugged in on my wife's dressing table plug, crazy. We found the WIFI and the Wines to be expensive and not the greatest, my wife's WIFI paid for in advance, took 20 minutes for an engineer to connect. We always have breakfast in our cabin, so we ordered from room service. Initially we found that the room service breakfast for 3 days was farcical, double plates of the same food, items delivered but not ordered, cold plates with cold food. I wrote to the Hotel Director, we never had a reply, but it all dramatically improved, with an Officer and a waiter serving exactly what we had ordered. We had our final bill it showed a gratuities to staff charge for each day at $21 each, so $42 a day x 7 days had been added, we went down to deck 5 and saw a Concierge Officer, who said he would get the charges removed, but it would take place over night. When we got home there was an email from RCI with the final bill and yes, as you guessed, it had not been removed, so I rang RCI UK and they promised to get it removed. This was our fifth cruise in 2026 and it was the poorest, so overall we were happy to get off. Next we have a Cunard Queen Anne Queens Grill suite in December, looking forward to it. Then next year back to the MSC YACHT CLUB.
