I began writing to Rocky Road about a month ago, hoping to organize a private tour of the Federal Republic of Iraq. The initial response was quick and I was sent their generic Southern Iraq tour to look at. We will be there an extra day, so I asked if they could propose a trip that focused more on Islamic architecture and make suggestions for the extra day. I was told to look at the generic itinerary. I was also asked for a deposit, although they had not sent me an itinerary. I asked again. After receiving an updated cost estimate, I asked again for a copy of an updated itinerary to discuss the plan before I paid. I was told, "The itinerary is very similar to the 7-day itinerary we sent earlier. However, more time will be allocated to each destination, as there isn’t much more to see when traveling further south." Needless to say, I am not going to work with this company. A simple, standard request to send a personalized itinerary that we could discuss was denied. It was a real "take it or leave it" attitude from company. Thankfully, I was also looking at other companies that have made several suggestions for how to make the best use of our time there and suggested things that we would be very interested in seeing, but are not on the "7-day itinerary." Having traveled the world doing private tours, I am taken aback by their lack of interest in me as a client. Not recommended.
