Same complaint as everyone else
Same complaint as everyone else. While I can see why the Cancel for Any Reason clause may be necessary for the business model, the problem is that THIS IS NOT EXPLAINED CLEARLY TO THE PROSPECTIVE TRAVELER at the time the trip is purchased. My sister and I each had separate phone conversations with Road Scholar before we purchased our trips, and we both came away thinking we would get refunds if we canceled for a reason not covered by the insurance. Re the reply from Road Scholar: your agents are implying things that are contrary to the written rules! One tends to believe someone from the company that you are having a personal conversation with.
Response from Road ScholarJan 22, 2025
Dear Floralin, I am responding on behalf of Road Scholar. We are sorry you feel you didn’t receive a clear explanation of benefits. The cancel for any reason coverage, that is included with the optional trip protection plan, if purchased on or before the final payment of a program, is outlined on our website, https://www.roadscholar.org/about/protection-plan . This benefit is also explained in the terms and conditions that is sent after purchase. As we know not all reasons for a cancellation are covered by insurance companies. This is a great back up benefit, should your claim be denied, that provides a credit good for future travel with Road Scholar to give you another opportunity to attend the adventure you had to cancel or experience a different one altogether. We would be happy to discuss this further. If you haven't already please contact us at 1-877-426-8056 or [email protected]. Sincerely, Road Scholar
