Received a gift card as a gift, went to try and use it from their list of restaurants and was told by the restaurant that they no longer accept them as it is too easy for them to be fraud.

Hi A Snider - If you can kindly let us know the name of the restaurant that said this, we would like to reach out to them to speak to them about their participation. Restaurant.com has thousands of participating restaurants nationwide and occasionally, a restaurant will decide to no longer accept without letting us know. We aggressively remove restaurants from our website as soon as we discover these one-off situations. We're sorry for the inconvenience - as restaurants agree to participate. If you're willing to report the restaurant, we'd like to get it off of our site so others won't run into the same issue. Thanks!

Hi Peter,
We're sincerely sorry to hear about your experience, however, Waffle House is not on our website. We see that you received your points credited back to your account so you can use them at any other participating restaurant on our site - and your points never expire.

A scam, only the worst restaurants are there
I got $100 worth of coupons and the weekend after I was going to the first one but it said "permanently close" and the second restaurant didn't wanted to honor the deal
Response from Restaurant.comMar 17, 2026
Hi Dionne,
We’re sorry to hear about your experience - that’s understandably frustrating. Restaurant.com works with local restaurants that choose to participate, and occasionally a location may close or leave the program before listings are updated.
Your unused certificates still hold their full value and can be exchanged anytime on our website. We also recommend checking with the restaurant ahead of time to confirm participation.
If you’re looking for more variety, our Dining Discount Pass includes offers from over 100,000 restaurants and nationally recognized brands. If you need any assistance please don't hesitate to reach out to our customer service team!

I have over 16000 points in this place…
I have over 16000 points in this place and no one will take the coupons. I have tried most major cities, wile traveling. I have asked for refunds and they refuse. Lets say I have about 300.00 that I threw away. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. Tried to use them for 10 years now. NOPE, they are a waste. BE CAREFUL.

Hi Jean,
We’re sorry to hear this has been your experience - that’s certainly not what we want for our customers. Our certificates are accepted at participating restaurants, and while availability can vary by location/zip code, many customers are able to successfully redeem them when checking participation ahead of time.
Your points never expire and can be used anytime on our website or app, including splitting them into smaller denominations for more flexibility. If you’re looking for broader options, our Dining Discount Pass offers access to over 100,000 restaurants and nationally recognized brand.
We’d really like the opportunity to help turn this around for you - please reach out to our support team so we can assist.

If I could give the restaurants.com app…
If I could give the restaurants.com app negative stars, I would. It's very frustrating when restaurants don't know how to use the discount or talk badly about restaurant.com and have regretted signing up with the app because the business owner said they don't make money off of customers.
Especially TASTE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN inside i-94 Oasis!!!
We went to McDonald's.

Hi Lilian,
Thanks for sharing this feedback and we’re very sorry to hear about your experience. Restaurants that choose to participate are expected to understand and honor their offers, so it’s disappointing to hear that this location spoke negatively about Restaurant.com and created a frustrating situation for you. We appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Unused certificates can be exchanged at any time, and if local dining options are limited in your zip code, the Dining Discount Pass is another option with access to more than 100,000 national offers. Just exchange your certificate and redeem for the Dining Discount Pass.

THIS IS A SCAM
THIS IS A SCAM. 99% of restaurants that are listed as "exclusive deals " don't accept those certificates. I had mine for more that 10 years, and I can't used them. I'm travelling to Savannah, GA which has about 5 restaurants listed. I called them and they don't accept those. It's like that in every city. Then I redeemed my certificates for points, to redeem those for coffee or something in the dining discount pass, but can't use that either- it's asking me to pay AGAIN for it, instead of using points Contacted customer service and they don't read emails, reply with cut and pasted responses like robots.

Hi AZ,
We're sorry for your frustration and all of the restaurants on our site have agreed to offer the deals that are posted. If you've stumbled across a restaurant that is no longer accepting the deal, please let us know so that our team can contact that restaurant. You can also redeem your points for the dining discount pass good at over 100,000 establishments nationwide. If you're having trouble with that, please reach out and we'll be happy to help you with it. We're sorry for any confusion or frustration and are happy to assist you so you can go out and have a meal and enjoy yourself.

restaurants don't take them
I have been a member for a long time. Previously it was hard to find a restaurant that accepted these discount certificates, when on the website it states they do. Seems they are having the same problem today. The places that no longer accept certificates should be taken off, i.e. Fish Tales in Cleveland, TX, and The Pit BBQ in Porter, TX. Frustrating!! Think when I use these up, if I can, I will not buy anymore...
Response from Restaurant.comFeb 17, 2026
Hi Tanua,
We appreciate you being a longtime customer. As you know we've been offering dining deals for over 25 years. Occasionally, a restaurant will stop accepting our deals. Many times it's because they come under new ownership and aren't aware of the program (this happened a lot during and in the aftermath of the pandemic). We'd like to reach out to any restaurant you've had an issue with and help resolve the situation. Thank you again for being a longtime customer! We wish you many more happy dining excursions for years to come.

They sell certificates to restaurants that often refuse to accept them!
Long story short: restaurant.com has, in my experience, a high percentage of deal certificates available to purchase for restaurants that refuse to accept them.
On 2026Jan17 I purchased a $15off$30 certificate from restaurant.com for a restaurant in Worcester Massachusetts and on Feb3 I tried to use it but the restaurant refused it. Today, Feb5, I found out from a restaurant in Greenfield Massachusetts that they do not accept restaurant.com certificates even though restaurant.com has certificates for that restaurant available for purchase. A couple of years ago, I purchased a certificate for a restaurant in Putney Vermont, but that restaurant refused to accept it. In two of these cases, and probably many more, restaurant.com still has the deal certificates available for purchase. Restaurant.com does not provide a way to refund points to cash, and with the increasingly dwindling amount of actually legitimate restaurant certificates on their website, it is difficult to redeem points (which were acquired with money) and therefore they have nearly hijacked customers' points (money). I have contacted restaurant.com and have described this issue, but they brush me off with a polite email.
Restaurant.com should update their website so that it displays only the restaurants that actually accept their certificates. After doing that, if what remains is a paltry list of restaurants, then restaurant.com should buy back customers points/certificates for a fair value.
