With Halloween approaching I wanted to buy a personalised Halloween meme using Apple Pay. The next thing I know is I've subscribed to an educational company called Readverse and they will charge me £29.90 per month starting the next day. I emailed the company immediately and got an automated response saying someone would be in touch within 24 hours (by which time of course it would have been too late to prevent the payment being taken). At this point I cancelled my credit card. I believe this company is a scam an I have reported them to the NSCC. Whether they can or will take any action I don't know as it's based overseas. Plese have nothing to do with them.

How do you actually stop them from taking on my 4th month now don’t even know what it is they are meant to do

They have scammed the wrong person this time!!! The payment for £29.90 has been pending since Tuesday 27th but my balance is still £29.90 less. Lloyds Bank says they can't do anything until the pending payment has cleared, either the payment will fail or the scammers will give up, but they cancelled the card that was used to make this transaction and tightened security.

Absolute scam, AVOID!!!

Another tale of woe about these scammers. My son clicked a "pay EUR1 to access site" link, and the same day EUR29.90 was taken from his account. Compounded by the fact that a second payment for the same amount was taken a month later because, although the card had been cancelled and a new one issued, apparently the ApplePay link still worked. I'm currently trying to resolve this with the card issuer, Hyperjar.

A complete con. I inadvertently clicked a £0.01 one-day trial and was automatically charged £29.90 the next day for a ‘subscription’ I had absolutely no knowledge of or intention of taking out. No luck so far in getting a refund, but will continue to push.

Scam site take my money for two months I did not subscribe for direct debit

Never heard of this company until a purchase showed up on my card. It’s a card I never use and it’s locked away for an emergency. Nothing but a bunch of crooks
