Meh
This is horrible, because you have to read stories, and it expects you to know everything on your own, and they consider a 60% failing, even when it is passing.

Really terrible choice of questions and the answer options don't make sense. Why should I be asked about the author's vaguest tone instead of actually understanding the passage? I would rather have the Memgooner attack me in my sleep

I prefer to be graded and tested on what I know, as it helps me figure out where I am, how I'm doing, and what I need to improve. Hence, why I am using ReadTheory. I liked this site at first, as it challenged me and actually made me think about the questions. Whether the answers are biased like others are saying, I do not know. The problem I have with ReadTheory arised today. I was using the site as usual, proud that I got all the answers right and I was ready for a more challenging quiz. What I got was disappointing. The first two hints were the AI generated photo and the boring and cliché writing. Next was the fact that there was no cited peoples at the bottom of the passage like there usually was. The most glaringly obvious indicator of laziness produced by the quiz makers was the unedited questions made by the aforementioned AI. The questions the AI made are able to be easily answered just by glazing over the passage instead of using any thinking skills and require no form of thought. I will use the most recent passage ReadTheory assigned to me, called Journey Through the Cosmic Sea: The Milky Way Galaxy, as an example. The first question was, 'What is the meaning of 'galaxias' in Greek?'. The answers you could choose were, A: Star, B: Cosmic, C: Universe, and D: Milky. A quote from the passage that directly tells you the answer is, 'The galaxy's name, derived from the Greek word 'galaxias' meaning 'milky,'...'. Now, obviously, one question with an obvious answer doesn't make the quiz bad. It becomes a problem when every single question is like this (ex. Q: What does the study of the Milky Way provide insights into?, A: Universe's structure, age, and composition, Passage: The study of the Milky Way has provided us with invaluable insights into the universe's structure, age, and composition. Q: What type of galaxy is the Milky Way?, A: Barred Spiral Galaxy, Passage: ...the Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy..., etc.). This wasn't the only passage like this though, there were multiple, like How Geography Shapes Economic Activity, From Failure to Fortitude: Amelia's Resilient Journey, and Baseball: America's Pastime. All of these passages questions follow the same structure where it only requires the student to glance over the passage for the easy to spot answers instead of making the student actually have to read the passage and gain an understanding of it to answer the questions correctly. Even worse, it lists these passages as 11th and 12th Grade and lexile levels of 1200 to 1500. Absolutely shameful and embarrassing. I do not like the use of Generative AI, especially in academic settings, but if you are to use it, please remember that it is a tool, not something to replace teachers. It needs to be supervised and corrected or else we end up with lousy quizzes like these that are useless and a detriment to education. Do better ReadTheory.

This website is chock-full of ads and boring stories that you are forced to read. The questions are either embarrassingly easy or so biased they're impossible to answer correctly. I wish I never saw this website, I would rate it 0 stars if I could. Even Lexia is better than this garbage.

My children get angry and upset and put it all on me because of this app. Every time they try to do and answer they get frustrated because they hit the submit button over 20 times and it does not work then while they hit the submit button An ad comes form the top covering the submit button So they hit the ad on accident and it opens it and closes reading theory so this gets them upset and puts it all on me I would not recommend this app because of angry moments and anxiety
