This a wonderful program that I have done with both my daughters. It is great introduction to learning to read for them and supporting the reading process for me. I highly recommend this program.

I was skeptical about the program. But now I could confidently say it's a good/excellent program for both parent and child. I also learned how I can help my child with phonics and also with writing comprehension. The only thing is that I would more of writing too. But overall I would say this program is really great if one wants to build a child's confidence in reading or English in general. Hope one day they will have a program for mathematics too.

I took a summer course for five weeks with the SLU Reading Program. To be completely honest at first the teacher was annoying but she was actually very knowledgeable and definitely believed in the course and the students. The course itself is a perfect fit for high school with skills that are definitely applicable in ALL classes and at any level. The fact that it was during the summer allowed me to commit the appropriate time to it without worrying about so many other activities and assignments. I also didn’t have to think about what my classmates would think of my opinions or understanding or the books or lessons.

Deidra S.
The program is excellent in helping your son/daughter with its first lessons in reading and phonics. The teachers and staff are very helpful and the extra work done on the computer by the child each week helped reinforce the work learned during the classroom setting. If you want your child ready for Kindergarten then this program is highly recommended. Social skills were also taught without the children even knowing that they were interacting with other children and how each had a different view on the books read each week.

Thank you Deidra, for this great review. I’m glad that your daughter really enjoyed her kindergarten class and that you found the teachers and staff so helpful. We hope to see you both again in our 1st grade class next year. - Tara, Customer Care Specialist
