My daughter is about to enter fifth grade and she has participated in the reading development program since second grade. Over the course of her involvement, I have watched her reading confidence soar! She has become a very strong reader who not only reads with excitement and expression, but successfully decodes words that are unfamiliar to her, and seeks the definition of same, which further strengthens her overall comprehension of the story. Likewise, her writing has improved and she now likes to write short stories! I very strongly recommend this program, as our experience has yielded nothing but positive results!

Excellent class!!! The teacher was amazing and made sure that all the kids got individual attention. This is the fourth class my son attended and I will keep signing him up for more. Worth the cost of the class.

The Institute of Reading Development is fantastic. We have a 5-year old, 8-year old and 11-year old. Each program is perfectly geared to their age group. In addition to engaging live Zoom classes, the online lessons are the perfect complement to reinforce the class material. This program kept our children's reading skills sharp throughout the summer. We are eager to continue in their Best Books program this fall! We would recommend this program to anyone who wants to make their child an excellent reader with a love of literature!

This program develop my son's reading, writing and comprehension skills. Highly recommended particularly during summer to maintain learning routine.

This reading program helped my 7 year old 1st grader to overcome his apprehension of reading. Because he isn't comfortable with reading, and it isn't his strong suit, I decided to have him try the class. Because OF COVID the class was over zoom. But I was very happy with Ms. Madeline who was not only a credentialed teacher but also an author herself. Her classes were VERY engaging. My grandson VOLUNTEERED to read by himself during the reading fluency training after he heard the other kids give it a try. Normally he would've been too shy and intimidated. The books are great and its nice to know we can purchase the other books that go along with the series. I've signed him up again to hopefully enhance whatever he is getting as he goes into second grade. I looking forward to him continuing to learn to like reading rather than feel intimidated by it. When you call the company to sign up, the staff are very knowledgable and trained to help you put your child in just the right class for their needs. The online homework assignments are super engaging. Way more beneficial than any handout or just reading assignment. Our favorite is definitely Mr. BOOKMAN and the news broadcasts! This program is fantastic! I've already referred several people to use it.

Our son loved the program and the video sessions online in between our Zoom classes were very well made. He laughed out loud so much while watching them and we can see the difference in his reading comprehension, sight words, and phonics. It has also helped him to develop a love of books that was our goal! We have continued reading and doing the online exercises even after the program has ended. the only suggestion we gave to our wonderful teacher is that the program include more diverse books where black and brown kids can see themselves in the stories. We appreciated the African folktale "The Alligator and the Hen" very much! We weren't sure how this would translate on Zoom (in COVID) and were very pleased with how well our teacher kept the kids engaged in their sessions. Our son really looked forward to seeing the other kids every week!

Both of our daughters have taken several classes with the Institute of Reading Development. The experience is always great. I remember the first session, I thought it was a bit of money for one class. After the first session was over I knew it was totally worth it. Our daughter was more prepared for school. It is important to me to help prepare her as best I can. I always recommend the reading program.
