The Grace: mesmerizing...
Late April, early May I travelled the western route with M/Y Grace. It was my third time coming to the Galapagos and my second time taking this itinerary. And again, what a true pleasure it was! I must confess, I have become a little addicted to the beauty and serenity of the islands. I have travelled each time with The Grace, because the first time was simply mesmerizing. I don’t think any other company could make the experience as special as Quasar does. The last two times I travelled alone. As a female traveler, I feel completely comfortable on this yacht. I have found that cruising on The Grace offers the possibility to connect to others when you want to, but at the same time has ample space to withdraw quietly when needed. Due to the nature of Galapagos and the type of boat that is The Grace, it attracts a type of fellow passenger that is well travelled, conscience and great to relate to. It was also definitely worth going back at a different time of year. The scenery and wildlife experiences were so different on each trip and it is interesting to see those seasonal changes in nature. The Grace absolutely stands out in a class of its own, which becomes even more apparent when you see the other ships out there. Probably important to mention, I learned on the last cruise that a Galapagos guide is allowed to guide up to a maximum of 16 people in one group. So, on the surface a 16-passenger boat may appear most exclusive, however, you will only have 1 guide. The Grace offers 2 guides on 18 passengers, which means you visit the islands in smaller groups of about 10 people. The yacht itself is simply a royal beauty as you might expect from a ship with such exquisite history. There is a lot of outside space with comfortable seating. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served outside and the food is fantastic. The cabins are very comfortable offering all necessary amenities. And the entire ship is maintained impeccably clean throughout the journey. The crew and guides each earn my five stars. Every single person brings such a sense of pride to work on The Grace and such a great love for the islands. For some companies or restaurants, providing a luxury experience can sometimes translate into a snobby service or a very submissive approach to guests. I feel Quasar has hit the right mark between excellent service and a sense of equal fun and friendship among crew and passengers. Not just the cruise director and guides, but every single member of the crew is engaged in the service and wants you to have the journey of a lifetime. They ensured that everyone is included in the activities, be it skilled snorkelers, beginners or helping people with mobility challenges. And there are small aspects that make a big difference: comfortable life vests on the zodiac that are not bulky to wear, a hot drink when coming back from snorkelling, a towel to refresh after hiking, finger food and a drink at the bar at the end of the afternoon. I truly felt pampered each time. For me there is no doubt, if you are browsing to pick your cruise company for the Galapagos: this is the one to go for. Thank you again Quasar Expeditions for your especially warm welcome as a returning guest.
