I purchased this insurance as an international student/OPT graduate believing it would provide basic coverage for medical visits. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing and stressful. I visited a doctor due to chest/stomach discomfort, and the visit also included a general wellness evaluation. Tests were ordered by the physician, including lab work and an X-ray. Later, all charges were denied and classified as preventive care, meaning I had to pay out of pocket, including separate bills from the lab and imaging center. What was especially frustrating is that this plan does not cover preventive care or routine checkups at all, which was not clearly explained during enrollment. I received an insurance card but do not recall receiving the full policy handbook upfront, and I only learned about these exclusions after claims were denied. As a recent graduate, being billed back-to-back for multiple services with no coverage was financially difficult. While customer service did respond, the outcome was always the same: everything was the member’s responsibility. I would strongly advise students and recent graduates to read the full policy very carefully and understand that this plan is probably for emergencies or accidents, not routine or mixed medical visits. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations, and I have decided to cancel my coverage.

PSI Insurance is scam. Don't use. claim department is non-existence. Bought insurance and went to the hospital, turns out I don't have insurance, so I paid for nothing. Contact PSI online, cant even reach any of the customer service. Don't use it

Psi which claims to be the No1 health insurer for year abroad students is an absolute scam. A year after my daughter was in a RTA sustaining a serious head injury which required medical care while she was in the US, they still have not honoured claim and are still trying to wriggle out of paying her medical bill under various spurious ‘further requests’. Avoid this company - they make it very easy to sign up and we selected the top tier of cover. However if you are unlucky enough to actually need to claim for a serious accident and need this insurance company to honour and settle your claim ; forget it! GBG, their intermediary ‘customer service’ department have clearly and cynically been tasked with not honouring claims. What PSi does do is sell insurance; it’s just that they don’t pay out when you need it. Absolutely disgraceful! Save yourself a year of aggravated and unnecessary psychological stress and choose another provider!

As an international student, they take our advantage because we don't know everything about filing taxes and health insurance plans. I had their PSI Gold Plan, but I was surprised with their policy of not providing important forms for filing taxes. They responded to me saying that you don't need the 1099-HC form, if you are an international student but that's not correct information. You file your taxes as a NON RESIDENT and not an international student when you are studying and work (part/full time) outside school and YOU DO NEED THE TAX FORMS. It's very sad and disappointing to pay the penalty even when I had the health insurance.

This so call 'PSI Health Insurance' Company takes advantage of students and scholars holding F-1 and J-1 visa and sells them cheap health insurance because this group of people don’t need tax documents for tax filing. But actually these cheap insurance is actually from other big insurance companies. 'PSI Health Insurance' usually hold those insurance companies accountable when the insured reports their losses. They do not have legal tax documents filed for the insured. Thus the insured will still be considered uninsured from IRS's perspective. And you may need to pay the fine charged by IRS for not having health insurance because they don’t have tax documents for you.
