My experience with making selections of the different components for my barebone PC tower was made relatively easy through PortaTech.com. The ample amount of specification details and help links permitted me to not overspend on selections that would clearly have been unnecessary and beyond my computing needs. At the same time, I've been pleased with the overall pricing as I've done side-by-side comparisons between different brands/models. I look forward to years of good use of my new system.

Portatech makes it easy to assemble and order your own computer config at a good price. Only complaint- they could have a wider selection of motherboard options.

Cheapest company according to Price Watch, they set me up with some good quality equipment. I ordered a $1,500+ custom build gaming machine and the parts worked well for their value. I get great frame rates and great response from the unit. It's nice and quiet too. Also adding a few extra parts of my own to allow more usb's. One drawback was that the cooling package was to have a cpu liquid cooled fan construct and two extra fans: only got one extra fan, I care little for this as a quick order from Amazon.com hooked me up with 2 blue LED cooling fans. Had to rewire the case myself to better the airflow a bit, but doing these part installations added my own fun to it knowing I was making a system I could call my own. Overall, my system is perfect now and would recommend this company for any first time builder to have a custom built rig drawn up, tested, and sent to them.

I ordered the 'K' version of an i5 CPU for my new computer but received the regular one. I called customer service ready for a fight, but they were able to ship out the correct cpu the same day. Accidents happen I guess, but they took care of it so I won't complain (much... just taking one star off). Otherwise a great experience.

Let me start by saying I am "technologically" challenged. I know what I needed the computer to DO, but didn't know how it translated into the actual hardware specs. I needed to communicate with them via email (as I was working during their business hours), but when I asked specific questions, I was referred back to their "information tabs" - which was all greek to me. I asked if they would be available to assist in the set-up if I needed, and I was told they didn't provide support to the Operating System (??). I believe I will have a good computer at a good price, but if you are looking for some direction or advice, you won't get it here. They were very responsive and replied to my emails the next day, but I was left feeling stranded with their responses. No warm fuzzies here!
