The best popcorn EVER!
l'm from lowa. A co-worker was from Wisconsin. We continually argued over the best popcorn, the best popping method, the best salt, on and on - yadiyadiyaya. Finally, 10 years post retirement, our favored popper bit the dust, bought the farm; suddenly our popcorn was tasting like several-days-old-fish; and who needs that? So l ate crow and contacted former co-worker. l purchased a Whirly Pop machine. Upon arrival l was not impressed, the metal was too thin, it would never stand up to the heat to make a proper batch of popcorn. l have a reputation to live up to; l was the popcorn Dad (King) of the world for all our kids friends; even the bitchy pubescent girls from our daughter's bitchy world of pubescent girl friends...yup even they loved my popcorn! Sadly, the Whirly Pop ended up way in the back of a lost, forlorn cupboard. Then, one nite, wifey and l were feeling like popcorn, like we couldn't stand it, we had to have popcorn! Okay, dig, dig, dig thru the cupboards, and finally we find Whirly Pop! We were nervous, first time with Whirly Pop. But we followed directions and came damn close to 'our' perfect bowl of popcorn. Can't lie, we had some learning curves; but it was fun figuring it out, and we did! But then, former co-worker suggested we try the hippest of the hip popcorn, to make our popcorn experience 'heaven sent'. Try the Wabash Valley Farms, 'hull-less' white, farm fresh popcorn. This is young corn. Our first batch was a disaster, we had the heat too low under the Whirly Pop. Next batch, popped by wifey, under high heat, was heaven sent - as promised by former popcorn-king co-worker. l used to be the popcorn popper guy in the family; no longer; the wifey has taken over those duties and we are in popcorn heaven, really, seriously - lt is the best ever! Often it is our evening meal. l'm trying to think of something just a teeny, tiny bit illegal that matches the thrill of this popcorn. There's gotta be something? But the rest of you had best just try it to see what l'm talking about! Or ask my wifey!
