A couple of weeks ago, I sent my hard drive to this company to have it evaluated and find out what had happened to it. I paid 100 dollars just for the evaluation.
A few days later, I received a quote for 2,000 bucks to recover just a few photos and family videos. During the initial call, their sales rep told me the recovery would cost a minimum of around 200 dollars, so the final quote was quite a shock.
After receiving the quote, they called me repeatedly to justify the price and offered several “discounts.” In just two weeks, I received more than five calls. I rejected all of their offers and eventually had them send my drive back.
I then sent it to a company called 300 Dollar Data Recovery, and as the name suggests I paid 300 dollars for the recovery.
My advice: get a second opinion before agreeing to an expensive recovery quote. Don't make the same mistake I did. I felt that their sales approach took advantage of customers who may not be technically knowledgeable.

Dishonest Pricing & Diagnostics
Incredibly disappointed and appalled at this company’s business practices. Had a very Important SSD hard drive stopped working. I’m not Completely technically impaired, so I did a little bit of troubleshooting and realized it was most likely a power issue and not any corruption of the drive itself. Regardless, because it was such an important drive was such a big project sitting on it I decided to do the rush service, which they charged me $500 for. I explained to them that I did not think that it was a corrupted drive, but rather that the drive was no longer able to power up. After about 24 hours they got back to me and they gave me a quote of anywhere between around $4000-$12,000 to recover the data. Well, I said thanks but no thanks and they shipped it back to me. Did a little more research spent $49 on an adapter and was able to recover the drive myself. I suspect they knew that this was the issue, but they also knew that I was in a pickle and they wanted to try to take advantage of me. I do not recommend their services as they are very dishonest.

SD Card Returned Damaged with No Data Recovery
If you value your photos and video, read this first! I had precious family photos and videos on my mini SD card, which was unreadable in my camera and had some minor rubbing of the gold on the back. I opted to go with PITS (CA) because of their 5-star reviews, and was nervous about shipping my card off. I shared an image of my mini SD card and later spoke with Kevin, who assured me that, "although they could not guarantee 100% success rate, the chance of recovery was good" and that "they had recovered thousands of drives just like mine." About four weeks later I received an email from PITS saying the one thing I feared the most happened - the card was unrecoverable. To their credit, they did work with me on the payment but nevertheless I was out of pocket nearly $700. The worst part, and the reason I chose to write this review: the card they sent back was absolutely damaged beyond recognition. It looked like it had been burned. I didn't even know if it was MY card, as the serial number had been rubbed off to the point that copper was exposed and the front of the card was rough and pitted. The original mini SD card was in my home and likely rubbed on my office desk, but was never immersed in water, fire or the elements so it should have come back the way it was sent. I immediately emailed, trying to determine if they sent the wrong card only to be told that this was the risk I took, and they actually lost money reducing the cost. He said that the "discoloration, exposed areas, scratches, or other visible changes you may see are consistent with the physical recovery work performed on the card" and the "appearance of the card after recovery should therefore not be compared directly to its original cosmetic condition. The card may look substantially different after the necessary recovery procedures have been completed." In summary, that mini SD card is damaged beyond recognition and I doubt any other company will touch it now to attempt data recovery. If zero reviews was an option, I'd choose that. DO NOT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS. NOT WORTH THE RISK.

Paid extra for 5 day recovery and took…
Paid extra for 5 day recovery and took them twice as long and still didn't recover the data. Since I paid so much for this rush service and they took double the time (not the fact they were unable to recover the data) I asked for something back and was told I would get a call back. Never got a call back, just email stating no many days later after I reached out multiple times.

Terrible
I paid over $4500 for data recovery and over $500 for a hard drive enclosure for a second copy of my data. At first they told me my original enclosure would work, so I provided drives. Then they told me it was faulty, but that they had an enclosure selling for retail at $1000, but they'd give it to me for $500. I ask they confirm that it had USB connectivity to my computer. They said it did. I did a quick google search to compare costs for what I was looking for, and saw the product they were offering did have a USB. I took them at their word about the discount and its connectivity, as they're the experts. I agreed to purchase it. When I received the product with my data, I could not access the data because the USB was not for the purpose I intended to use it for, I did some research and found that the device only works using a LAN cable with a different speed. I also received the product without original packaging, without warranty and without instructions. I then looked at the product model and saw it was discontinued--that it was not retailing at all. I called for a refund. They returned my call, I was told that they reviewed the calls, and since I was given the model number, I was capable of doing my own research, and they refused a refund.

I contacted pits data recovery…
I contacted pits data recovery requesting they can get all photos and some data that I had accidentally deleted from my recycle bin, after paying over £490.00 al I have received is memory stick with only some photos of and a few parts of data that was just on my harddrive. So if you just want a part copy of what is just on your harddrive on a memory stick for over £490.00 go to this firm. Before I contacted this firm I already contracted another firm and they retrieved more data but not all I Required for less than £60.00. Incidentally Pits data recovery are refusing to give me a refund dispute what is on their contract if they can't get the information required they would give a refund.

Expect your drive will never come back
I sent in my drive for an evaluation being told it may be $250. A couple weeks pass and they never called me back, so I had to step up and call. Once my drive was in their possession, the new quote was $2400 and tried to sell me on a discount of $1500 for a testimonial when no work was even done yet. After telling the rep that I could not afford it due to an emergency he wouldn't have it. As much as I wanted the drive back to send to another, he kept guiding me away from this decision. In order to get anything back, I had to sign. It led me through a slow, antiquated process to receive my data, some of which I did not want to be recovered. Customer service was awful and never properly guided me through the remainder of the recovery. Their previous response to this review is that they will hide behind their contract, which I only signed after I spoken to Mister "Rise and Grind" (I'm sorry I could not find his name on any of our correspondences but remembered this as a comment he said when speaking on the phone). I should have never sent my drive if I properly knew what I was getting into and I suggest you do too!

Beware
I sent my SD card into this company because I had vital footage on it that I wanted to retrieve. They advertise 99% success rate but I must have been the one percent because they found nothing. They had charged me for finding my footage and they then even had the cheek to charge me extra something like £14 to return my Unreadable SD card. After not finding any footage you would have thought that any reasonable company would have just put the SD card in the second class post and sent it back with their apologies. Nothing of the sort. I will never use this company again. All they are after is my money. Shocking.
