Pimsleur is designed as a speaking and listening method first, but many courses do include dedicated reading lessons that teach the written system separately from the core audio lessons. That separation is intentional because speaking, listening, and reading develop different skills. Depending on each learner’s goals, additional reading, writing, and vocabulary work can also be helpful supplements. Your advice about taking notes, focusing on words and phrases that are difficult, and repeating lessons when needed is excellent. We also love your description of Voice Coach Challenge as a kind of language laboratory. Voice Coach is designed to extend the active practice at the heart of the Pimsleur Method™ by giving learners another feedback mechanism: they hear the language, recall it, produce it out loud, and receive feedback on their spoken response. When pronunciation needs work, Voice Coach can also provide guided correction, including the same backward breakdown technique used in the 30-minute lessons to help learners hear, practice, and improve difficult-sounding words. We appreciate your suggestions as well, including your note about streamlining some narration and being more inclusive of English learners in course examples.
